Airguns are highly overlooked by so many. I can hunt everything on my farm with an airgun. Rabbit, squirrels, racoon, groundhog and coyote. And another benefit they’re easy on the ears.

Another benefit of the nitro piston is there not temperature sensitive like a metal spring that loses a some power in cold weather.

Awesome review. I’ve personally come to appreciate air guns for how much easier it is to do a bit of impromptu hunting. I used to work nights out in the desert area of AZ USA and when I’d get home it was perfect time to harvest a cottontail Out of my 4 acre yard Right in a semi- residential areA

Sorry but I'm calling B.S. on that. I've owned plenty of firearms and pellet guns through the years, and the multi-pump pellet guns were trash. No way it shot through a 2X4. Especially the older ones. They were, and are, junk compared to the modern single pump pellet guns.

That's a nice looking rifle, I'm thinking about getting one soon. I looking to upgrade, and retire my old Crosman 766 (1979 model). That old 766 has been squirrel hunting many times over the years, and even though it's a .177 caliber and shot around 680 fps, it still had no problem taking down squirrels out to 30 yards or so. But, it would be nice to have a newer rifle, I've been shooting my old Crosman for 40 years!

That’s what’s great about air rifles. Too many Americans think you need a ton of power for everything. These $100 air rifles can take squirrel, rabbit, raccoon and groundhog all at appropriate distance. Hatsan makes a model 135 and it gets 30fpe in .22, .25, and .30 calibers. The 135 at 30fpe could easily take deer with headshots within 30 yards in a shtf scenario.

Jon Neet I just recently bought some refurbished ones and was amazed by the accuracy and power in a break barrel. I have a 5 month old and have been researching a lot on air guns for home defense. They’re quiet, they’re accurate and they’re powerful. I have a military background and too many think you need high power energy. A 22lr is lethal easily, yet Americans call that a toy. From what I’ve learned 25fpe is lethal to the skull. No I’d never want to kill someone just to kill. But air guns, especially a pcp is adequate for home defense in my opinion.

I remember one year when I was a kid I received a brand new Crosman 766 American Classic... this was back in 80 or 81'. I had a lot of fun with that air rifle shooting in the back yard when I could not use a .22LR because I lived in the suburbs. Other kids in the neighborhood had airguns as well and sometimes we all got together and would go plinking in the woods. Let me remind you this was the suburbs in Long Island New York and when the cops would see us... they would just tell us to just be careful and we respected them. I'm sure nowadays the outcome would be different.

What is the difference between the vantage, Optimus, blaze, and the storm?
@jonneet21265 жыл бұрын
Optimus still uses a steel spring, while the Vantage uses a nitro piston and no spring. I would guess the Blaze and Storm use the latter also. There are still some shooters that prefer the older steel spring break barrels over the gas piston type.

@eddiecahall38243 жыл бұрын
That is a myth about the gas piston being cocked and not hurting anything over the older spring piston design. The gas piston design will actually lose power over a 40 min. Period verus the the spring piston. The spring piston will hold more power versus losing it over the gas piston. I tried this theory with a chrony. The old spring versions are actually better.
@dinsixiengmay97813 жыл бұрын
Your theory might be right..I've done of my own experiment left a coil spring rifle in -30* for 24 hours and no lost of power infact it increases by a couple of fps? No lost of accuracy eather. Now with the gas piston, I've not done any experiment yet?
@eddiecahall38243 жыл бұрын
@@dinsixiengmay9781 you are right on. Everybody believes the hype. The good thing about the gas piston design is it makes less recoil and may be more accurate. At least in my experiment that is. I had the same result as you did with the spring piston test. It did actually have a slight rise in performance after being left cocked over a period in the cold. I did the spring versus gas piston like that and the springer came out on top with no power loss while the gas piston leaked down slightly and took a dip in performance 😉✌Ed.the professional backyard sniper man.

Made it to the 10sec mark of the video and then stopped. Just can't believe how little care people have for proper airgun safety, especially when handling springer break barrels. Have no idea about the rest of the video, as I have no interest in watching someone be that careless.
