Not too shabby for straight out of the box without cleaning the barrel most new guns require cleaning and maybe 50 or so pellets before they settle down
@rickatkins17892 жыл бұрын
The experience I have had with my break barrels is that they are extremely sensitive to hold. For a while I thought my relatively expensive sights were defective. I would get them sighted in getting 1/2 to 1 inch groups at 20 to 30 yards. Next time I would use them they would be off. I discovered if I held the gun exactly the same as I had the previous time shooting they would magically be correctly sighted. Why? Due to the pellets being in the barrel while the two directional recoil is taking place makes them much more sensitive hold, balance and harmonics. Yes, airguns have a break in period, just like powder burners and usually perform better after break in. Your review showed the Crosman Shockwave to be decent break barrel. It would be helpful if manufacturers would list the weight of the pellets used to get their alleged pellet speeds. Anyhow, good job!

My first recent (as in the last 45 years) pellet rifle is a Crosman Legacy 1000. 10 pumps for each shot got old, so on to a Gamo Whisper Fusio0n .22 break barrel and then a Beeman R9 .177 break barrel. Crosman has to be right there with Daisy when it comes to getting people into (or back into) air guns. Have to admit, I'm seriously looking at getting into PCP with a Air Venturi Avenger .22. Big $$ move, so maybe after I pay off the Beeman and Hawke scope that I went with it. Meantime, the local shooting range here opens at 11:00 AM tomorrow, so I'll be there at 10:45 AM to get a good spot. Have dialed the Beeman to 25yds, going to move out to 50yds. Good times..

Well done girl. With the right pellet you will definitely shoot closer groups, even at further distances. One thing is certain. You will not make it with the supplied scope. Here in Europe most people are of the opinion that the optics are rubbish. A consolation. When you take the scope apart, you get two different magnifying glasses to read the fine print on some inserts or on packaging and plastic bottles.

Some may not agree with what I'm saying. some scopes don't respond well, some scopes drift back after zeroing. But What I was starting to say and drifted myself. A break barrel is a terrible design(for accuracy). you break the plane or bridge from stock to the alignment of the barrel each time you reload/break. and slam it back shut., I don't care how good the machining is or was, that barrel is not perfectly re-aligned each time, and with wear... it gets worse, not terrible wear I know. but you know how a little doddle here makes inches off down range. Just give all that some thought... and a little fog or haze may clear. You might as well be putting the scope on "Anew" each time you break. They are great for kids, plinking and simple. But Precision... Hole in hole shooting,. they are not., but then again $128.00 Also... that slamming of the spring vrs true air is murder on some scopes. I ruined a Nikon 3x9x50 BDC on a Rugar "Springer" $300. learning mistake. Why was this guy running a high dollar scope on pellet especially bdc... optics, vision. clear viewing is why. I'm old... and I hate unresponsive cheap scopes(for me) My 1st pellet was a break barrel, And I'm 50+ playing with PCP's now. oh how times have changed..... Cheers

It's actually a very good rifle. I've taken rabbit with mine one shot at 45-50yards easily. Had mine for about 3 years now and it still works fine. Lets not be too harsh, the girl is only trying (it may be a slightly heavy gun for her as she only slim/thin) I'm sure for $130 its quite good fun & being honest she was adjusting the dials after each shot (when it could have been her that pulled the shot up/down left/right) best way to zero in is to take 5 shots aiming at same point every time assess the group then make a slight adjustment then repeat.
