Thank you very much. Been watching all your videos on Crosman pumpers since getting the XL. I think they are excellent airguns, especially the older models, sadly rather rare over here in the UK though.

Thanks Nobby. It was a really useful learning experience as I had never had an air rifle of that type apart before. Cheers, Alan.

nice one Alan👍👍 Educate me here, whats difference between a BB and a Pellet. excuse my limited knowledge atb Kev
@RetroSteamTech6 ай бұрын
Hi Kev. BBs are usually steel ball bearings, although you can get copper coated lead ones. BB guns generally have smooth bore barrels. Pellets are mainly made of lead but you can get them made from copper and aluminium. The guns that use them have rifled barrels making them more accurate. Some guns like this Crosman are designed to use both. However it's not a good idea to use steel ball bearings in a rifled barrel because they can damage the rifling. The rule of thumb is, if the barrel is rifled, use pellets. If the barrel is smooth you can use either pellets or BBs. Hope that helps. Cheers, Alan.

During the video I called this one a BB gun several times. That was because my initial research showed that they were smooth bore guns. However I later learned that the early ones had rifled barrels, so this one is technically a rifle.

I have a brand new-in-box Crosman 761XL with the gold receiver, wood pump handle/stock and rifled barrel. It is in mint condition, with the original box and owner's manual. I bought it new when I was a young teenager back in the mid 70s....only shot it a few dozen times with pellets then put it away, because I bought a .20 Benjamin and it shot much better. I'm also going to sell my mint condition wood stock Crosman 622 pump action CO2 Rifle and my like-new Crosman wood stock 1400 Pump Rifle. (I always liked real wood stocks, not the crappy plastic stocks.) What might these Airguns be worth?

All nice airguns. The best place to gauge second-hand value is ebay in America. Over here in the UK previous sales on auction sites can be helpful. My guess would be, 761XL - £150 to £200. 622 - £200 to £300 and the 1400 £100 to £200.
