I would like rifled barrel too, but got the Crosman at a good price. One thinks of a rifled barrel as more consistent and accurate.

@@tomrisar5492 And you would be correct. Old Vietnam vet here, and a rifled barreled was made to be more accurate than a smooth bore. The rifled barrel spins the round so when it leaves the barrel it will spin toward the target. Think of it kinda like throwing a football with a spiral or without.

You wouldn't be able to shoot BBs if the barrel was rifled, because steel BBs would stuck inside or destroy the rifling. So it's a choice between either a double BB/pellet smooth bore pistol like the Crossman, or rifled pellet only like the Umarex.

@ Exactly. Rifled for pellets only vs smooth bore for pellets and BB’s. I picked the Colt specifically for that rifled barrel. OH! Yeah...and I got the Schofield top break “Cavalry Pistol” with the smooth bore. Since I served with the 11th Armored Cavalry I HAD to have the Schofield.

Absolutely excellent review of the Crosman Remington 1875! Every aspect of this very interesting gun was lit up in this review! Are there any informations about some other versions of this gun? I like the nickel finish, but the fake ivory grips don't look authentic, they have the look and feel of really cheap plastic. What was your impression about that?

After a few days of owning the Remington 1875 , that's what they call the Cowboy in Canada, I must say you were right again. The feel of over-all quality is amazing. Mine doesn't shoot quite as hard, but gets up to 102 good shots per co2 cylinder. I must say that mine does not shoot quite as hard though. It gets a 300 avg with 7.4 gr pellets and 385 with Umarex bbs. It shoots straight. Thank's again

I got a bit of a spread using steel bbs but the heavier copper coated lead bbs tightened the group up nicely, It's so nice when you buy these guns and find your shots centered, I hate it when they shoot either to the left or right but this beaut was spot on. Lovely pistol, looks beaut next to my 7.5" SAA. Keep those reviews coming Andy, love em I do ;-)

Just picked the crossman Sheridan up, as usual, no real institutions in the box, struggled for a few minutes and couldn't figure out how to rotate the barrel, even though this video is 6 years old, it still a great reference to fall back to, cheers 👍

I bought one today, it feels right and shoots very accurately at 20 feet, it is a little lighter than the real thing, I also have a black powder Ruger version of the Remington old army .45 but which I can't practise with in the back garden which is why a bought this, it is good kit. I have one issue with this otherwise good review;- I am a small person with small hands, this pistol fits small hands just fine, as I said I bought it because it is the same size as my FAC Old Army and that can have quite a kick, but even with little hands that shoots real fine.

It would also be nice to see someone with your knowledge and compassion for these guns to do an instructional video on cleaning the different guns that you review! The original gun the "Crosman Cowboy" is based on is the Remington New Model Army 1875.

This Crosman Cowboy would be a nice companion if you own Uberti's new "Frank James" in 45 Colt caliber based on the Remington 1875. With the Cowboy, you can practice shooting even in your living room and ammo would be very cheap, compared to the real 45 Colt. Nice video.

Umarex are made in Germany, Crosman are made by WinGun in Taiwan.

I have tried both and agree the Crosman just feels and sounds better. It also has a notch in the rear site. I dd note that both would jam if the hammer was not pulled back fully. Also it is a bit of a stretch for the thumb.

For me the choice is Umarex. Simply because of the looks. I always loved the looks of the Colt Peacemaker mor than the Remington's.

Exactly. A nice pistol, ruined by massive lettering on the body. Hanging on a wall, with the left side facing outward, there's nothing (save the hammer position, and that's curable) to distinguish the SAA from the real thing.

To be honest I have the cowboy and with it being nickle plate the writing it's not really that visible and I love gun it's awesome the feel weight and action is just amazing the clicks when cocking and loading are sweet ... the trigger is crisp and sharp .( but it is single action) .. I got mine with 10 co2 a tin of 500 flat head pellets pack of 50 double sided targets tube of pellgunoil . All for £160 new . Bargain also price on back of gun says 150 😀 ..

Love the historical significance and detail of all the old cowboy CO2 guns! (Umarex's Colt Peacemaker, Barra's top break Schofield model 3, and Crossman's remington 1875.) But I am disapointed that I can't find a single-action CO2 revolver that meets my wants. Personally I'd really like a single action (that has the ability to be fanned) that's either a top break or has a swing out cylinder... or if double actions could be fanned that'd be cool!

I have a short barrel webley mark IV co2 recover with break barrel action. Easily my favourite co2 revolver and its double and single action. Its definitely worth buying. They also come in different barrel lengths :)

You cant fan these guns as you'll break the trigger or hammer action or both. Even real colts weren't made to be fanned, they make special "race" guns for that.

We (my neighbour has the Umarex version) will only be getting rid of those pesky tin cans but still, I'd like to be able to hit them. His Peacemaker is very accurate...or he is....not sure which. ;-) It's the non rifled barrel that's making me hesitate.

Very good video with one exception. The Sheridan is a Remington 1858 or 1865 single action and the other is a Colt single action. I have the Umarex Colt and I'd really love to have the Crossman Remington in my collection. In the real world there is a lot of difference between them. I enjoy your reviews. Perhaps you could review the Umarex 1911 or the S and W M29.

I find the crosman remmington easy to clean seeing you can remove the cylinder I oil the centre spindle and a little oil in the cartridges and outside the cylinder to prevent wear

I remember having a real .22 pistol like this back in the early '70s. It was so damned inaccurate that I hardly ever used it. It made me realize how tough it must have been for the REAL cowboys of the old west to hit anything they were aiming at. LOL!!

Andy Webster ; it’s a good question. I own the Crosman, and I intend buying the Colt also. But the main difference is price and size of grip. If you have small hands, buy the colt, if you have big hands buy the Crosman they are technically a different replica, but very similar style. I would strongly recommend you try each for the feel before you buy, unless you have a real preference. Hope this helps.

Comparing the two, I'd say the Crosman is much smoother in its mechanism and sounds delightful when it's cocked. The Colt has a nice hand feel and it a little smaller.

On the Umerex you notice some shots come out with a gas mist coming out of the barrel and when you showed shooting the Crossman there was no mist on any of the shots can you explain why that mist comes out And does it only happen on the Umerex

I had a Crossman 1875 and when it was less than 6 months old a pellet jammed in the barrel and ruined the entire gun. The inside of the barrel is just a thin tube easily damaged.

I love this air pistol but just experienced my first problem.,the pellet went straight through the cartridge. I called the help line and they were great. But what happened mechanically? Still, thiss I one cool pistols. Just don’t leave a pressure cartridge in for too long. Ie. you are going to sock up on air, and I have.

The orange tip is only required on airsoft guns for import from the manufacturer and for retail sale in the US. Once the consumer purchases the gun they can take the tip off if they want. Traditional pellet and BB air guns like the ones in this review aren't required to have orange tips because they aren't considered Imitation Firearms.

The BB’s are a snap to load! Just pour some BB’s into a tray or whatever and grab a cartridge and push the nose down onto the BB. The little thing pops right into place. That’s it. Easy Peasy.

Not really a fan of revolvers jere.. But I have been thinking of getting myself at least one. And I think this will be it. I do prefer western styled revolvers over those modern revolvers, like those Dan Wessons etc.. It did come as a surprise to me that this was a smooth bore airgun. But, since it comes with both pellet and BB cartridges, I can understand the smooth bore choice of manufacturing. Hell, the barrel is at least long enough for good accuracy. That pellet grouping on 8(!!) metres was really decent. More than good enough for me. Really like that ratcheting sound of it! And the hammer does not leave that awful gap in front of it when the gun is not cocked. That plastic clamshell packaging ls awful - but that is just a way they do in the US..

The Crosman will suffer the fate of the original Remington. Second place. This revolver was greatly anticipated and met with a yawn in the US. First it was offered in a blister pack, an insult. Next it should have had a rifled barrel. The grip is oversized and poorly designed ,feels like a brick in the hand. Last if Crosman were smart they would have used Umarex compatible Peacemaker cartridges.

I think you just got tiny hands maybe put less lotion on and get those hands blistered and scarred then it won't feel like a brick in your hand I'm getting one when I get paid and I am going to do a little modification so it can become a powerful hunting pistol basically It's gonna shoot bullets not pellets after I get mine and I'm getting a rifle that is basically the same type of pellet gun shoots cartridges and I am going to do the same Damn modification so I can use it to do security for my landlord
