a lot of people don't realize that even though the legacy 1000 lacks the metal receiver of the 2100, its equipted with a metal pump rod, whereas the 2100 is plastic, resulting in additional 50 fps at 12 pumps

My legacy the screws coming lose and no way to tighten them with out stripping threaded holes so on seem of receiver I put aluminum duct tape to hold it together, may get gorilla black duct tape and tape it up but love the legacy and classic 2100 both

i used to pump fast also until i noticed that natural air pressure doesnt have time to flow into chamber a full fill if we pump to fast and accuracy was worse if pumped clapping it like some guys do, that crazy fast pumping

Well, I bought a Legacy 1000 and had it 10 days and the roll pins on the pump forearm were working out of the arm. The pumping was so hard it was not enjoyable to use. Took it back to Wally World, while there I saw the Daisy 880 and when I got home I remembered the videos you had put up about it. Long story short, I got it in the brown wood tone version, fell in love with it and had just received some Beeman HP 7.2gr and the pointed 8.53gr pellets. After 30 or so shots with the open sights I was delighted. Put that cheapo scope on it and grouped shots of10 on each pellet and placing in dime sized circle at 10 yds., indoors. I was thinking about putting my red dot scope on it, but cross hairs on a scope, I think will give me a better detail of shot placement as red/green dots can block small target details. Man I really like this gun, so easy to pump and as I don't have a chrony, I cant see much need for any more power I get from 7-8 pumps. I varied all my shots by number of pumps from 5-7....love it

The 2100 is better...as with most plastic rifles things can loosen..also stock on this one can get loose....Daisy has been better at holding plastic guns together....crosman work in this area but the 2100 I have had no problems with things getting loose

@@libra7624 The 880 is only a week old and is shooting consistent 1/2" groups @ 10yds. Will work it up to 20 yds, just wondering about a comment I saw you posted about the guy letting the barrel float. You had mentioned spray foam and I kind of like that idea. Do you just knock off the front sight and spray the foam in and around the shroud leaving room for the re-attachment of the sight? Just in case it starts to lose some accuracy.
@libra7624
@libra7624 6 жыл бұрын
@@cavemanjohnnie spray foam is done by drilling a hole in the shroud on the bottom....there are other ways to do it...some 880"s are fine with no play or barrel movement at the end of the barrel....1/2 groups at 10 yards with 5 shots is very good....this means if we double it it's about 1 1/4 inch groups for 5 shots.....a best day is 1 inch groups at 25 yards...a bad day would be 2 inch groups at 25 yards Wich is reminder to switch pellets....clean barrel or other variables like wind....a dry pump....or speed may not be right for the pellet...so if I group bad a few times with a pellet I change pumps to see if it's a speed fussy pellet....pump rifles we have that option to increase or decrease speed where as a spring piston rifle you have to settle for the speed it gives you for each pellet....with the Daisy 880 in fun mode all pellets reach 25 yards with 2 pumps....the field target trophy 5.56 and the jsb or air arm 7.33 round nose can get out to a amazing 30 yards with a single pump...this is why the 880 is a great air rifle...it can be pumped one time or 2 times for kids or older folks.....scope set for 25 yards and Dixie cups and pop cans shooting all day long

@@libra7624 Again, thank you for the sound advice. I've only been using the Beeman HP 7.2 and the Beeman Pointed 8.53, my 880 seems to like these with very consistent 1/2" groups at 10yds. I also know that I need to try your suggestion using various pump velocities and to get set up for 20yds. I will try the pellets you have mentioned above and other replies you made to the 1077 regarding the clips and forcing cone when I was using the Crosman Premier Pointed 7.9 and the hardness of that pellet. Very much appreciate all the help you have given me.

I have an older Remington Airmaster 77, which is a Crosman 2100 with different cosmetics. It has the metal receiver just like the 2100. This new "Legacy" model has a plastic receiver. Also Crosman dropped the Remington vesion some years back. About the time the Legacy wad introduced they brought back the Remington version. The important thing is, the new Remington uses a plastic receiver. So, for longevity, I'd go with the 2100 Classic. I also have a Crosman 760 with plastic receiver. It has nezr 3000 pellets through it. I recently dropped it and it broke out part of the plastic scope rail. It still shoots, but Ihad to reposiotion the rear scope ring

I tried out my friends Crosman F4 and its powerful, but heavy and quite a handful to cock. I want to mostly plink and target shoot, but want the ability to dispatch the occasional rat and squirrell. I know your a fan of the pumpers such as the 2100, 880, and others. Do you think the 2100 would be capable to do these requirements. The squirrells would be no more 45 feet away from the rifle. I was also considering the 1377/1322 but the 2100 seem to have the edge.

You need 12 pumps for maximum power with the 1000. It's not a 10 pumper. You may won't be getting 1000fps no but you're not getting what you can be as its 2 pumps low. Hope that helps sir. By all means look into my claims first but I'm quite confident as im also used to 10 lol (daisy 880s) Thanks for answering my questions below as well.

most 10 pumpers are advertized as 10 pumpers to protect warranty but for shure you can go more then 10 however light pellets having high energy at close range will not be much at long ranges, them pellets that hit hard would be the heavier 10 grain on up since the ballistic coefficient is .025 or more, a crosman ssp 4.0 grain i measured once having a ballistic coefficient of .005 wich is terrible for holding velocity even at close ranges but at point blank range the may have a high foot pound rating since the air resistance hasnt got to them yet, the legacy 1000, crosman 2100 and daisy 880 can see at times 9 ft/lbs

Suggestion or advice... Dry patch through the barrel or with some type of lubricant ? haven't researched yet on that. Other than most things say don't bother cleaning a pellet rifle barrel at all
@libra7624

miragexl007 airgun barrels dont need any aggressive cleaning...air guns have no powder residue like real guns....also some airguns like these have shallow lands and groves in the barrel....the best method for cleaning is what gives the most accuracy....some barrels prefer to be fouled or leaded up....this is why there is no one method that has to be a standard...ultimately whats gives your rifle more accuracy is what matters....two same model airguns will never have the same rifling since the rifling is like people's finger prints...none are the same

The lands and groves in most airguns get clean very easy...some people scub the hell out of barrels wich is un necessary....walther barrels are even better and almost self cleaning...i have a 717 and a 747 with a walther barrel...i can run a mop through my 747 and have less lead build up then the 717 wich is the same gun but standard rifled barrel and not walther....but no aggressive cleaning is needed...accuracy can suffer over scubbing barrels with cleaning compounds..they erode the lands and groves

cory thanks Cory. Yeah, I got a bug in my head about doing this . I'm an avid shooter , mostly with 9mm, handguns . But thought this would be fun going back to air rifle ... But learned a lot about quality pellets, not to mention different air rifles but not ready for PCP type stuff. I'm formulating a plan. Make sure barrels are clean first, two shots just the prep the barrel?.. then 5 shot groups of each pallet. Maybe one swab through the bore between. I might post a video... Not of the actual shooting but just results cuz I don't have that much patience. LOL. Kind of an adventure... $90 worth of pellets. Wish they had sampler Pax of different. But this will be a fun, I think. I'll do the new Crosman 1000, my old 880, and that new stinkin Nitro Venom.

a fair pellet test is best with a few sets, i clean the barrel before each type of pellet to make it fair, that way if there is crud in the barrel from last pellet type it wont effect the new type, other wise the second type of pellet is a janitor for the first pushing crud out so it can seat into the rifling where it needs to be, for example a baracuda will seat deep into the lands and groves and a 4.48 mm competition pellet will not go as deep because it purpose its for a choked barrel like my 747 or tight is another word, so this is why cleaning before each type of pellet is good, the worst shot groups a person can do is one set of each pellet, you need a few sets to get pellet to foul or season the barrel to what it likes, i have rifles that if i clean to much they shoot worse, like the daisy 880 wich has shallow lands and groves can actually be less accurate if cleaned to much since lands and groves are shallow to begin with and harsh cleanings can erode the lands and groves since it barely has any to begin with, so you could end up with smooth bore air rifle, the rifled barrel is cheap so it can be more effected by harsh cleaning then a high quality barrel with deep rifling and a better steel alloy that can handle cleanings better...the walther barrels you can run a patch through and have barely any crud like you would a cheap barrel but even a cheap barrel cleans fast....some of the black color is from not only the lead by oil also that is sprayed in barrel like on pumpers every time you fire the air rifle, so if patch has color it doesnt mean barrel is dirty always, some times its oil or graphite coatings on pellets wich actually are good for the barrel even though patch comes out black....like beeman wad cutters they seem to dirty a barrel but its not dirty but graphite dry coating wich is good for the barrel in that its known as a dry lubricant

You reminded me talking about bb's and pellets I do have one pumper I keep bb's in to use is the smooth bore Crosman Recruit. I wanted a decent pumper for bb's so I wouldn't destroy the rifling in the others like 880, and 2100.

Also the detail in your pellet test are interesting. You probably spend alot of time at the bench getting this information. I respect, and admire that dedication. Out of all pumpers you've tested which is gonna be the best gun for the money? Thanks.
@libra7624
@libra7624 6 жыл бұрын
long term using bb's the accuracy will fall off to that of a smooth bore, all my smooth bore pumpers on average are 50% of the accuracy of the rifled pumpers, on a good day maybe 75% but this is a 10 shot sample, i believe in a 10 shot group to verify accuracy so that way the lucky ones and bad shots get lumped together and its easy for math to get a percentage, for example 7 hits on a one inch target is a 70% hit ratio wich is still good but say like 60% then ts questionable to some who may feel they need to find a better pellet or the fact the air rifle has reached its peak of accuracy, one example is my daisy 880 and daisy 35, the peak accuracy at 25 yards with 10 shots for the daisy 35 is about 2.5 inches and that is to be expected but not bad for a smooth bore for a 10 shot sample on a clean barrel, and the daisy 880 i can keep about 1.5 inches at 25 yards with 10 shots, these are not lucky days but away to generalize the accuracy of these two rifles to the public, i think a good way to verify accuracy to the general public is a 10 shot grouping on a clean barrel, maybe a few shots first to both warm barrel and foul up the barrel and then the test with a good bench rest set up under good conditions like very little wind and a sand bagged table to stop micro vibrations

cory Thanks for the info. I own a cronograph, and too can be set for ten shot groups and I think I might start doing ten shot testing. Better math, better information on accuracy, velocity, ect. Great information. You also talk of airgun manufacturers being somewhat misleading in there advertising of velocities. ..well I'm for one glad I have a cronograph, it's sort of the "lie detector test" of airgun manufacturers. I also own a Hatsan, but mine is the 155 Torpedo vortex 25 caliber and I can get higher than advertised velocity of with lead out of that gun also.
@libra7624
@libra7624 6 жыл бұрын
also a common mistake in even the biggest air gun channels with a chronograph is not cleaning the barrel for each different type of pellet, the gunk on the last pellet test is still in the barrel for the new type of pellet, this effects the true velocity, also in spring guns the spring has to "warm up" so a few throw away shots can help warm it up and then do a test, a cold spring and warm spring have different results, so to "wake up" the spring with a couple of shots first should be good

i found that out a a kid with a daisy 880, shot bb's then wondered why pellets were less accurate months later, smooth bore daisy 35's are good for smooth bores only with the longer pellets since there is no twist, i did a 40 yard video on that daisy 35 and though fun she groups wider then the daisy 880 because of it being a smooth bore, the daisy 35 is one of the lightest and funnest guns to shoot, its like a little carbine and its very cheap, loves silver arrows or silver points 11.5 grain or can be picky with short pellets since they cant twist in the air

i can squeeze 28 ft/lbs out of a .177 caliber hatsan 135 but i stick to 25 ft/lbs with heavier pellets, the light alloy pellets are only high energy at close range, the light lead pellets get the skirts damaged before the get out of the barrel since the air pressure is to much for the thin skirt pellets, so thick baracuda, field target or any pellet about 8.5 grains or more, the hatsan 135 in .177 breaks the sound barrier with all light pellets wich is why she needs heavy ones, the piston slams to hard against the breach from no resistance so the hatsan 135 in .177 need heavy pellets for shure, she can break shooting to many light ones

the 2100 is better, i recently have the legacy loosen up on me so the crosman 2100 with the zinc receiver will be better, give the trigger a few hundred shots to break in as well as other parts, she is a oil burner so make shure a a couple drops every hundred or so shots, or if you see the wiper look dry, the only downside to crosman pumpers is they have no felt to hold oil like the daisy 880, the 880 women prefer over any air gun in my experience, 2 pumps for 25 yards with a 4x32 scope from amazon to keep cost down, but the daisy 880 she will be able to load easier making it enjoyable, all girls pick my 880 when they do shoot so this is why its still the best selling air rifle

JD Rouss this video is for new people..and a lot of what I said can increase accuracy even if using your best performing pellet.....consistency is important Wich is why it's critical to share all the gold nuggets if wisdom to get rid of a lot of variables that stand in the way of better accuracy....some love details and some don't....this video is for new people and those who love details to get the most out of their air rifles despite the low price of these pumpers

Yeah my HATSAN mod 125 vortex 25cal definitely is higher agreed. Im getting over 800fps with 25.40gr and around 740+ wih 30.86gr. 34fpe avg. Stupid accuracy!

that is good and over average, the cost of shooting .25 cal is getting lower also, so lots of fun with .25 cal air rifles

The Valve on the Legacy is redone to hold the higher presser then the 2100, or 2200 but it basically a copy of the 2100

i have both rifles and it appears my chrony readings are the same or close and parts look about the same, its seems for now the trigger on my 2100 is a little better but have not broke in trigger yet on the legacy maybe
