Jesus H. Christ Sigel can talk. My God. And not only talk but constantly brag about himself. Mike, this is not the 70's, 80's, or 90's. Or even the early 2000's. Pool has evolved and you simply act like a dinosaur. You were a great player for your era but, honestly, I do not think you would be a top 25 player in today's game. They would outshoot you and outsmart you in today's game. But I do agree with one thing: get rid of the jump cue. In fact, get rid of jumping all together. It takes away from the game. Make guys kick out of trouble. That is more skillful.

To hear Mike Sigel talk you'd think he's never missed a ball. Efren Reyes annihilated him in an 8-ball match for huge money and he couldn't make a shot. It's constantly mispronouncing Efrens name. Going to have a talk with Shane after the match and tell him how to play pool . Such a braggart it negates all of his previous titles in my mind. Doesn't even know who Jason Shaw or Chris melling are. I'll bet he never has a repeat customer as a fishing guide. Hopefully they take their sound blocking headphones when they go fishing with him and catch their 40 to 80 huge 3 to 10 lb.bass everyday.B.S. Supersized EGO!!!! He's a legend in his own mind. Saw him in person in the 80s in Dallas and he was a prick then to

It's obvious that Mike hasn't watched pool in a long time. The reasons for different rules than when he played is because players are better today. They are better offensively, defensively, they have better fundamentals. And speaking of fundamentals, along with better equipment, they generate more power in their stroke. Which is why, along with faster cloth, they don't need to spin the ball as much. SVB and Melling are world-class players (and play more than just 9 ball), even though this wasn't their best match. And just my opinion, but I don't think Mike, or many older players or fans, can let go of the past. They think that their generation of players are just as good, or better than today. That's just rubbish; ego talking mostly. In all aspects of competition where some type of athleticism is involved (yes, even pool), players today are superior than the previous generation. Bigger, stronger, faster, smarter. That's just the way it is. As far as pool is concerned, today's players would destroy the best players of the 90's and prior. The older players are just out-matched in all aspects. (And I watched many matches in the 80's and 90's (ordered many VHS from Accu-Stats back in the day, and still enjoy watching older matches.) Maybe Reyes or Strickland would do alright, but fact is, it's a global game now. Europeans with their snooker background, Asia too. (Last year Gareth Potts ran 8 racks of 9 ball in a row on a chinese 8 ball table. Goes to show how awesome these guys, and girls, really are.) More players, more competition = better pool, and that's a good thing.

Players like Efren Reyes, Ronnie O'Sullivan have shown the greats can maintain playing great across several decades. Old man Bustamante took Shaw to 10-10 hill match earlier this year at the Derby City Classic on the 10' foot table. I think some of the greats from the past could have adapted to today's game.

The magic rack is great to make sure all balls are touching, but in my looking at KZbin 9-ball breaking videos, very little difference is needed between balls to make a big difference in where a ball ends up going. Not only space between balls but slight differences in orientation of balls make big differences. With magic rack, the balls are forced together by the template meaning more pressure between balls is created as opposed to no pressure without the template when balls are just touching. This has got to make a difference where the balls travel after the break. Has anyone even thought of this?

I think the best comment of the entire broadcast was @ 1:51:13 with something like "when your opponent leaves you that, you love it...when you leave it for yourself" (not so much). THAT is actually something worth thinking about...makes looking at leaving the rock a bit wrong like that on rare occasions a different (more positive, better attitude, better chance of sinking) taste in your mind. I think I'll take that with me. I'm GREAT at beating myself up for those. ;-) Melling claps the table twice for Shane's shot...then the face at 31:03 REALLY says it. That was a BRUTAL safety, about the only thing that could have made it worse would have been to lock up the cue against one of those blockers at bad (good?) angle. It was amazing to me when Sigel said "Who came up with that rule?" concerning the three total past plus pocketed on the break. Man, he is really out of touch with recent pool, and the other guy later agrees. The reason was breakers were soft breaking (one in particular..cough..Duel) and he was just DOMINATING everything with that break. In eight ball he developed a break where the opponents balls would be a little knot and his spread over the table...why they can't pattern rack now, either. Sigel doesn't realize there was a very good reason for that rule, and that Cory is very very smart, especially when it came to developing killer break strategies. Not a bad rule, a GOOD one. Van Boening is another breaker at that level, he ENDLESSLY practices them, I think I saw him once say TWO HOURS a day, just breaking. Maybe a "small" hint how important breaks are at this level??? ;-)

Another great pool match with miserable commentary. I didn't mind Wilson but I only made it to rack 3 before I had to stop. Segal was hurting my ears.

Did anyone keep track of how many times Segal said "Lets see what he does".

A COMPLETE MISMATCH!!! Mike Sigel and Mark Wilson I mean. I permanently lost respect for Mike in the King of the Hill match with Efren. Totally a rude dude. Mark - sorry I couldn't hear more from you. I'm sure glad for whomever invented the mute button on my remote!

How was rack #18 ( Shane breaking on the hill) a legal break? He only made the 2 ball and only one ball (the 6ball) went over the head string. How is that a compliant break???

It's 3 - pocketed - crosses headstring > 0

I watched that shot, you are right... He only made 1 ball (I misread what you said, thought said he made 2 balls, not the 2 ball).

Chris probably put Shane back on the table. He has the option.
