It's true HUMAN spirit. Not true American spirit. There are people like that all over the world. No, there is no such thing as "the greatest nation", every nation has it's good and bad.

cross country is a good sport.. everyone is so nice and encouraging others and helping them to the finish line.. i know im not even close to being the best by finishing a race at 26-27mins for 3 miles but i still enjoy it.

I ran XC and if my opponents in distress, I helped, or sought out the proper. When running one race thru some woods I came across another runner sitting down having a breathing problems. I stopped (could not touch or DQ) got her to stand up, and walked with her until we found an aid from her school who could take her and get her the inhaler she needed. Only then did I start running once the aid got to her and knew what was wrong. Sure I lost my top 10 position in the race, but in this case I did not care. My coach understood and was pleased I did that. The aid later thanked him for my actions.

This is something I love about cross country. A race that I had earlier in the year, I was having trouble breathing so this girl from another school came up to me and was running with me. I nearly collapsed and she grabbed my arm (this girl I had never seen before) and she kept saying "you're almost there, you can do it".

This is why I love Xcross country. I ran side by side with a rival and towards the end I didn't have enough in the gas tank to kick it out with him. I finished behind him. I got across the finish line and was done lol. I dropped to my knees and the rival guy picked me up and congratulated me. Never in a million years would I have expected that. Although whenever we pass another rival we always tell them "Good job." We all know how tired each other are and how hard we push to get across that line.
