If you watch the original video, when he finishes the third lap, someone near the cameraman says, "He's trying to steal it on this lap because he probably doesn't have it on the next lap." And by the end, all he has to say is, "Wow! Wow!" This guy went on to run at Stanford and on the 2000 Olympic track team in the 1500 meters, at which point his mile-equivalent time was 3:52. Very cool!

This can serve as a lesson for all of us. If you ever feel like you are coasting, just putting in time, etc. always be aware that you have it within you to dig deep and push yourself. If a person takes a task extremely seriously, and treats that task as the ONLY thing that in their life that matters, that person can achieve what they thought was impossible. Most of us don’t want to do that though because it’s uncomfortable, it’s not fun, it can be painful. But if you direct all of your mental focus, all your strength, dig deep within your heart for the courage and belief to do it, redirect all your love, all your fear, all your hate, you can find power in yourself you never knew existed.
