As a ski instructor I find that most classic and skate students have a great deal of difficulty balancing on 1 ski at at time. But until they acquire good 1 footed balance these skiers will not really improve their classic or skate skiing. With many xc ski seasons just 2-4 months long this means that in the other 8 to 10 months xc skiers should practice 1 footed balance exercises to maintain and improve your ability to balance on one foot at a time, This video gives several ideas for working on 1 footed balance in the off season.
