Cross RC T004 Trailer Part 2

Revisions to my workshop / studio has meant I've not been filming this year, I have however managed to get some tiny truck stuff done so we can have a quick catch up with the finished Cross RC T004 Trailer.
I still have lots to learn in terms of how to set up the new kit, you can see some of the frustration at the beginning of the video!

Im sold on one of these trailers, big enuf to look good behind the trx6 hauler I've been working on. Price not too bad and seems stout - great job on the finishing!

@@antrc 🤣🤣 I've got a VS4-10 Pro to do first (finally have everything in for the build, I can't tell you how excited I am!) and thats waiting on me getting a railway project out of the way so I can clear the workbench - the MC8 is third on the list of stuff to do, so closer than its been....

@@antrc It was so much saving up and selling stuff - its got a lot to live up to 🙂 It will make a good comparison against the leaf springs on the Marlin - to be fair, it should a whole magnitude more capable!

@@tedstinytrucks1380 I just pulled the trigger on this baby today! You sure did such a thorough review, really appreciate it 👍 I hope I don't get the version with the big cross rc logo stamped into the plastic. Sounds like theres a few small issues you encountered through the build, like the shortage of hooks and a couple other things, so I might send you the occasional question while i'm building it if thats ok. Did you sort out the stiff suspension you were experiencing? Theres one other video of a guy pulling this same trailer with a UC6 and his suspension seems to articulate quite well. When you were pushing down on it with your hand, seemed like it was hard as rock, that ain't cool. Anyway you did a fine job with yours, I'm excited to start mine when it arrives. Cheers Ted 👍

@@westernsharpie Hey man, awesome! Good choice, I hope you get the trailer with the small logo too - it looks much better when empty. Fire away with any questions and I'll do my best to answer - seeing what you've built I can't see you having any issues, but happy to help any way I can 👍 The suspension is still very stiff, but I suspect that adding weight and dragging it around will soften the springs a little - I'll wait until its got some miles on it before deciding whether it needs any rework. I'll look forward to your videos and take on it 😁

Hi, In version 2, the T004 (CRO90100010) and the T004A (CRO90100038) are available. Which one did you take? I am interested in the one with the same drop sides as the MC8. Thank you in advance.

Hi Jean-Frederic. The one I have built is CR090100010, so the same drop sides as the MC8.

Hello, I would like to reproduce the wood effect paint on the floor. Unfortunately, I don't speak English and I use google translation. could you give me the paints and the material used as well as the technique? thank you in advance. Jean-Frédéric

I'll try and keep it simple for Google translate 🙂 Use primer on bare plastic. I use cheap hobby acrylic paints sold in art shops. Paint a base colour of light brown / beige / sand over the planks. Put three large blobs of paint on a palette - one of your base colour, one of light grey, one of mid grey. Mix a little base colour with light grey and paint a few areas of each plank along the imaginary grain. Repeat with a mix of base colour and the mid grey. Aim for a random effect on each plank. Don't be afraid to build colour up slowly - search for pictures of old wood on Google - suggest 'worn wooden truck bed' for a start and copy what you see. Use weathering powders or ground pastels to dust over the top - I make a mix of brown and grey to give me a dirty finish. Spray everything with varnish when you are done. Hope that helps!
