Your work is awesome. Thank you. One suggestion though, if you don't mind. It would be nice if you changed the resolution a bit when texturing, because it's sometimes hard to make out what's going on up there.

Awesome work! Do you ever use baking High Res to Low Res workflow? i was thought that way, so it looks a bit confusing for me, to see you UV mapping the High res model

Thank you! Yes I do in some other videos, I only used 1 mesh in this one.

I dunno if you have ever used 3ds Max or Blender, but as a Maya user, do you think that the lack of non-destructive modeling (e.g. modifiers) is an issue with Maya?
@polyrendr7 ай бұрын
I have actually used them all, I first started in Max and then moved over to Maya. I've tried Blender a handful of times but personally I enjoy Maya the most as a "daily driver". Each software has their different workflows but I don't see the lack of modifiers as a issue with Maya, in fact some would say its actually a great advantage of Maya in comparison to Blender and Max. Maya's robust integration features make it a preferred choice for large-scale, complex projects and that's why a lot of large studios use Maya over Blender. In my opinion they all have pros and cons and in the end you can more or less achieve the same results with them all, just find what works best for you and your workflow :)

@@polyrendr thanks for the answer ^^ really glad to hear from a pro that the lack of modifiers isn't really an issue, I have tried Blender and Maya and honestly I don't feel like modifiers are that big of a deal, also, despite many people (read: Blender fans) saying that Blender is easier than Maya, I found the opposite in my experience, in Maya most things are easy to access and generally intuitive, whereas in Blender it's a pain having to memorize so many shortcuts, figure out where they have hidden submenus, constantly switching between object and edit modes.. I find Blender's interface almost as terrible as Zbrush's lol Didn't really give 3D Max a chance because it look so outdated and its interface is also total hell for noobs, but I might revisit it someday... maybe :D

I only created one mesh in this video, so this would be more towards movies or pre-rendered situations. I'm sure it would work fine in UE5 😆, but for videogames a lower poly, more optimized mesh would be needed for in-game.

Do you have any videos that you create textures from scratch? By not using any smart material.
@polyrendr6 ай бұрын
Yeah I have a few, water gun jumps out as one of them, but honestly the smart materials are fantastic to build off of, they are a great foundation to start from and really helps make the process quicker, so you should use them when you can imo! I almost never use the SM as is, it usually involves modifying and tweaking things.
@breakmon2186 ай бұрын
@@polyrendr Okii gets. Yup, you're right. For example if the texture of the object has wood. You can use the wood smart material and tweak it based on the reference you're making.

Can I ask why you put by hand instead of using bevel?
@polyrendr7 ай бұрын
Sorry what do you mean by "by hand instead of bevel"?
@Nata_Dog_lovers7 ай бұрын
I mean, you put verts and then combine them in edges. Can you single out edges and make bevel edge and then in mode 3 it will also be beautiful, Isn't it so faster? 😊
@polyrendr7 ай бұрын
@@Nata_Dog_lovers is there a time stamp in the video where this happens? Sorry I'm still a bit confused hah but yes I bevel edges all the time.
