I'm an 09er (though I casually played SF2 growing up), and SF4 will forever have a special place in my heart. I do agree the pacing was good and different in SF4, and for example Sim was still Sim, not a rushdown character. That being said, I think Capcom did an amazing job with SF6 even just strictly gameplay-wise. It can get overwhelming sometimes since the Drive system adds another layer you have to be aware of at all times. But overall, I do find it extremely fun. The giant cherry on top is that everyone's viable, and the worst matchups aren't as bad as they've been in the past. So while I will miss the SF4 era, I can accept it is gone. Let SF6 take over and let some little kid win $1,000,000.
