i don't see why new players shouldn't intuitively understand that if you destroy a pendulum it gets replaced from going to the grave with going to the extradeck but only if there isn't dimensional fissure in which case it will be banish but only if it is a monster as if it is in the pendulum scale its treated as a spell and on destruction and go to the extradeck with which it can trigger its monster effect that triggers on destruction but in both situation it would not go to the grave making cards that want to destroy a monster and than do something dependent on that destroyed monsters stats attribute, type or card type, which is naturally different from type as card type refers to some amount of spell, trap, monster, ritual, xyz, synchro, pendulum, fusion, continuous spells or traps, counter traps, normal spell or traps, quick play spells, equip spells or field spells what ever is written on the card referring to card type, as the card cannot check those things when the card isn't sent to the grave.

The reason the Punch in the Box interaction seems obvious is that unless it's detached from an Xyz monster, anything that would send a Pendulum monster from the field to the graveyard sends it to the extra deck instead.
