CrossFire Pro build. Great Langmuir Systems plasma table.

In this video build my new Langmuir Systems Crossfire Pro plasma cutting table. This is the newest and best tool I am using while I build a budget Jeep J10 off road Race Truck for the Baja 1000 using LS engine power, King shocks, FK bearings, and parts from a Silverado 2500HD.

I really appreciate you showing this and everything I wish that you would have been more detailed I found out that the you know these the anodized holders that held the the axis screws fit in different places and I didn't know that until after I had already installed them and then found out that there is different ones and they do not all fit in the same place so I had to take them all out and change them around and try to find out which ones fit which hole and all that and like I said something like this right here just a little bit of extra time saying this one goes here you know and this one fits this bolt hole pattern over here you know just a little technical things I do appreciate the going into the box part that was very nice of you I guess there is other videos on here that goes step by step and I reckon you figured let them do it, but I do watch your channel a lot and then I really take your information you know to heart because I completely trust that you have you know what you're talking about and you have tried it and you'll be truthful about it but I just wish you would have been in a little bit more detail about it but other than that I appreciate it appreciate all the videos God bless keep you safe on your races in Jesus name

I actually was on the fence about buying the crossfire Pro, but just decided to attempt to build my own (I’ll get a video up soon if anyone wants to see). PS. @@ntdracing yeah I got roasted in a video for saying “solenoid” when I should have said “relay”. Some people have entirely too much time on their hands lol. How was the GTM build? I’ve thought about it as a future project when the roadster sells. Only thing that turned me off to it was dropping 10k on the trans setup.

The GTM was a cool and complicated build. I’m a budget guy, so I managed to build it for 32k. Sold it for 41k. It later sold at Barrett Jackson for 73k. You can see it in my BOB video. I talk a little about it at the beginning.

@@ntdracing wow that is a good budget for a GTM! I had that plan with the roadster and thought I’d be all in at about 23-24k, I’m about 10k over that lol. If I get 40k for it I’ll be thrilled lol. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for putting this video together Dave. I am planning on pulling the trigger on a Crossfire in the next couple of months. Only problem is whether to get the Pro or the original with the extended bed. Space is a bit of a consideration.

Question sir, I know this is going way back, but I should be picking up my Crossfire XR sometime over the next week or so. I remember you placing the rolling casters on your Crossfire Pro and was wondering how they held up. I do know that the XR is a much heavier and beefier system + the 65 gallon water table. This being said, I have seen where a person installed the 4ea @ 2400# total rated casters like the ones you had on your Pro. Would you think these would be ok on the XR to have the ability to shift around if needed when the water table is empty. Thank you sir. The following is what I have ordered. Thanks for the great videos! I saw the part where you installed the THC chip - other than that, was the THC wiring plug and play with the plasma cutter? Just asking because I see detailed instructions on Langmuir website for wiring into the cutter if it doesn't have a compatible port.

Totally plug and play with the Razorweld. Some people do not like that plasma cutter, but I get really good results with it. I am going to use the Razorweld on the XR too. Thanks for watching. .

I just ordered the Pro w/ new plasma cutter about 3 weeks ago.. so doing some planning on where it's going and how I'm going to set it up. On the opposite end of my shop I have my office area. My initial thought was to just run the cnc off that computer being that's where I will be laying pieces out on 360 vs having a computer at the cnc. With your experience now is this gonna be practical to have the computer and the table in separate rooms? Or should I be planning to get a designated computer?

The main issues is having the ability to stop the cut program if something goes wrong. The Fusion 360 CAM usually has good logic to avoid potential tip-ups, but not always. It is nice to have the computer close so you can hit the pause button.

A quick question did you have the plasma not start? The one I have been helping a friend with does not start.

A few times…check air pressure, ground and replace consumables. Make sure the nozzle is not on too tight.

Hello Dave, unfortunately those are stepper motors not servos. The terminology is actually quite confusing but a servo in this context would have an internal encoder to tell the controller computer where is actually is, so in theory it should be more accurate. This said, on a plasma CNC the only load is moving the torch around so "missing a step" shouldn't be that common, unlike in a router or mill. Those corner gussets and side skirts look really nasty to mount. I understand it's a cheap solution but damn, it would have been nice to have threaded holes for machine screws

love the video, i just ordered the crossfire pro yesterday, be late sept. before arrives, do i need to research and learn all 3 software for this? Mach3,fusion360,firecontrol? great idea on the castors wheels.

I would download fusion 360 and start with the Langmuir Systems tutorials to learn how to use it. There is a little bit of a learning curve, but after you figure it out you can make anything. Mach 3 is for the old crossfire you will be using Fire Conrol, but I would hold off on the Fire Control, because it will not work until it is connected to the CrossFire Pro control box (the box sends your computer a code to unlock it). Besides, it is very easy to use and your time will be better spent learning Fusion 360.

You're lucky they got back to you. I'm having an absolute nightmare time of them returning phone calls and emails with parts that were improperly drilled when I received this machine. I wish I never bought this thing.

I got the same thing as you(except) with the laptop stand. I've had nothing but trouble with it, I been talking to their Support for two weeks still no answers (and getting here took 3 months with some parts getting stuck at Ups 5 miles away for 4 weeks) I have lasers and Large CNC routers and 3D printers. I imported these myself to save money and working with the chinese is an eye opener but I've never had the issues I having with this unit. ( Iam hoping things turn around for me soon I do agree with most of your points about the machine )

What exactly is the problem you are experiencing?

@@ntdracing it will only run anywhere from 2 seconds to 5 minutes depending on what the settings are when it starts, (I am getting the Arc fault error constantly).. this is a known issue, they add me test all the wires, then open the case and test different terminals while it was on, then the asked to remove the L1 chip and solder the connections where it was(that is the known issue they said it is acting like an antenna for interference) anyway I've done the testing and they were very kind enough and are sending me a new control unit. I have many hours doing the testing they asked me to do (I need to get back to my other orders, Laser and CNC) and I am glad they are just going send me a new unit.I don't know when it will get here probably about two weeks. Iam right under Cincinnati where are you?

Not sure I would say no...just different. I have absolutely no affiliation with the company, but love the product and imagine that they are a small group that hit a niche that went huge and are delivering product as fast as they can. With that they are good at answering in forums rather than on the phone. So far, my experience has been good, but required a shift in what I expect from a company WRT customer service.
