Here are some of the lessons I have learned while using the CrossFire pro from Langmuir Systems. In this video I put this amazing plasma cutting table to use while I build HONCHO!, our Jeep J10 off road Race Truck for the Baja 1000. This truck will be using LS engine power, King shocks, FK bearings, and parts from a Silverado 2500HD.
See the CrossFire Pro plasma table at store.langmuirsystems.com?aff=21

Excellent video, you have covered many of the quirks of the crossfire and supplied good fixes. You can eliminate the rust on slats by mixing 21 Mule team borax laundry detergent into the water table. Get some PH test strips from a pool supply store and add enough borax to get an 8 or 9 reading on the PH test strips. Then save the water and reuse. If you take the drain plug out of the table you can get more of the water to drain. But your solution also works great. Good Luck with your race truck build!

Great video it helps me plan my workflow footprint. I love the idea of having wheels on all the equipment. My air compressor resides in another shed but if you guys are planning to put yours on wheels , please be mindful that some compressors like mine for example are extremely top-heavy and wants to fall over if not bolted. Note to self: plumb plasma table drain straight out of the garage through the wall (Im too lazy no way in hell im gonna drain that table every time, that table works for me i dont work for it lol). Also put drill press, band saw, belt sander then lathe all in correct order from the door so when i blow out door im not blowing debris into the lathe, milling machine, beer refrigerator, ect,....

One tip for those using vinegar or other acids to remove mill scale. you can also let rusted up parts sit overnight and the next day you'll have clean metal .anyways after using any acids for cleaning you need to oil your metal if you're not using right away cause after they come out of the acid they will start to rust almost immediately. if not using right away it's best to just leave the mill scale as a protective layer also don't try any acid cleaning on aluminum only on steels 👍👍👍
@ntdracing
@ntdracing 3 жыл бұрын
I agree...If I just wash off the mil scale with after the vinegar bath, it will start to rust within minutes. What I usually do is hit it with the bristle brush and wipe it totally dry then leave it in my fab shop, and it is still shinny metal a week later. Moisture is the enemy.

@ntdracing
@ntdracing 3 жыл бұрын
Right now I use Fusion 360 for CAD and CAM. It is nice because it is free for personal use for one year, but seems like they are tightening down on what you get with the free version. After the year, it seems like you need to start over again with a different email, or purchase the program for $400+ a year. Many swear by SheetCam, and for the one time $140, I am looking at it too. I think you still need a CAD program to go with that, so I may look at SolidWorks. Fusion360 is a nice free way to get started. If I do go to SolidWorks, I will make a video. Good luck.

What is your opinion on the razor weld 45, I'm trying to decide between razor weld 45 or the prime weld 60 for the the crossfire pro. I know in your previous video you recommended just getting the razor weld but my budget is pretty tight. So I'm trying to save money where I can. Thanks in advance
@ntdracing
@ntdracing 3 жыл бұрын
This recommendation would not be worth much because I have only used the RW45, but I like that one because it is wired to be a simple plug and play...I needed that on my first plasma table. With that being said...if/when the RW dies for any reason, I will replace it with a Hypertherm.

@@ntdracing I spoke with Langmuir and they don't recommend casters at all. I wonder if that's from side loads being applied to the minimally supported legs? Might fashion a low , rolling platform with cutouts along the edges so as not to interfere with the feet. Could even cut that out on the plasma. :-)
