Bad ass! Mental toughness is what it takes to succeed and being comfortable with the uncomfortable is where it's at. Just the other day I did a two and a half hour 10 mile hike in 90 degree heat (some truly steep hills thrown in too). Also didn't have water with me and was completely fasted going on over 14hrs since my last meal. When people asked me why I'd do such a thing I simply say "Mental toughness".

People need to stop comparing crossfit to bodybuilding..theirs no such thing as something being better than another. Crossfit athletes like rich and Dan do both bodybuilding and crossfit. The goal as an athlete, is to be a complete athlete! Whether it be football, boxing, tennis, bodybuilding, crossfit - why not try them all

I was the last person to ride in Dan's car before it got totaled. I rode in it 8 pm, Nov 14, 2012, and somebody rear ended him at 10 am, Nov 15, 2012. (That's only 14 hours difference). It was quite a hit (40 mph) yet he took it like a champ... he is the new Chuck Norris, I'm afraid, awesome with an extra side of awesome. It is hella tough to go running outside shirtless in the winter. Watch some traditionnal Kyokushin training, they go in dogi, barefoot and run in the snow and train outside at crazy temperatures. They are monsters. What ever you train your body to do, it will do it.

some people don't want that much mental toughness. yes, those are probably the most physically, mentally and emotionally demanding jobs in the world, but alot of people that crossfit already have jobs and they want something to break themselves out of their daily routine. i've got a brother who's in the army and the shit he tells me is nothing compared to cfit. they are similar, in the sense that they are both mind over matter but your life's not at stake with cfit. much respect to the army guys

Rich actually has a decent swing man, I live in Idaho and literally did this kind of stuff on a daily basis as a kid for fun, plus work on my uncles farm, now it's actually trendy and considered high tech fitness? How did he put it "constant variable movement at an intense level" in the beginning I was like, if you really want to impress my go jump in the water and swim like Norwegians do, and sure enough later on there they are.

Rich Froning was only doing Crossfit for a year before he won the games. I am pretty sure Crossfit gives results fast....or rather you earn the results if you are mentally and physically tough. And if you go to a Crossfit box, there will be absolutely no mirrors so people can't look at themselves because Crossfit is about being strong, not looking strong.

Rich doesnt just do WODs Mon/Fri he squats heavy. TuThu is a heavy pressing movement. Wednesday he deadlifts heavy. Plus he cleans and snatches heavy twice a week.

People get upset at stuff like that because they've never seen how much food the average supermarket throws out because it goes bad in a matter of days. I guess they somehow believe that some locations in Africa (that often take as long as a week to get to) would benefit from the quickly spoiled food. Everyone complaining about the use of food: go and live your life in selflessness and let your life be the example. Actions speak louder than words, and telling someone to live a certain way without doing it yourself is nothing more than hypocrisy.
