@@MaryaniReis Was that a friendly response? Not cool if it wasnt. Yes, as a 40 sports coach, event producer, and 20 year vet of outdoor event etc... - and a CF fan since 2009. Open water swimming is a must for a CF champion to be crowned Fittest on Earth. Yes open water swimming is a must for me and my CF friends who follow the sport. The event? And YES, I was standing and screaming at the TV when Jeff Adler started swimming of track and no one went over to stear him back. Or when Tia swam over the back of someone there wasnt any life guard near by. Im trained in lifeguard and saftey systems. My house hold is a mix of Ropes Course builders, Climbers, and professional Surfers - we could see that some one off in the set up. Lazar went under and no one knew, regardless of why he went under, that is a system failiure at the highest level.

My guess for split is 3mile run (5K) and 1 mile swim (1,600m).

Would be nice but the run would be 20 minutes and the swim could take 45 min for some swimmers. I’d love to see them all have to swim a mile because that would totally change the standings. I don’t think they’ve ever done that long of a swim before? Trying to recall early fronin days.

Hopefully a lesson has been learned. Maybe call Ironman to figure out why the swim should be first…or that lifeguards and lots of rescue kayaks are needed for water events. This stupid stuff is why I left CrossFit 6 years ago. Too much bravado, not enough brain cells.

Excited for this! A real run distance that will challenge them and gotta love a good swim distance. The ski swim was cool but not enough distance to wreck someone since they could makeup with a good erg. A poor swimmer can’t hide in a lake swim.

Sad that a person that had trouble at the end of the swim died. The “poor swimmers can’t hide” works only if there is a solid strategy to keep athletes safe. They screwed up so badly and so close to shore that I doubt they will do a swim after a run ever again.

It didn’t say a 4mile run. It said 4miles for time. I’d guess the swim is included in the 4miles. I’d also guess it’s going to be rounds rather than a straight run then swim.
