The rule is to know the traffic behaviour and stay ahead of the curve. By Observing the vehicles you can judge whether they are going to slow down, turn left or right. But don't apply this rule to bus drivers, truck drivers going too fast, the tuk tuks. cars and two wheelers are ok. Keep looking for a gap, when you see one developing get ready, walk fast but not run, keep looking mostly leftside, but also keep an eye on the right side. Keep an eye out fast vehicles being driven recklessly. Try to cross near traffic signals, busy roadside market places, there is strength in numbers, avoid stretches of roads that are long with no breaks.
