The scary part about accidentally falling into a big-ass crevasse like this isn't dying, it's when you somehow managed to survive it. Your crew won't know that you did survive and if they do know, no one knows how to get you. You'll be slowly dying in a cold dark place with your body mangled, alone and hopeless.

I've been watching many Everest/K2 documentaries and the thing that freaks me out the most are these crevasses - they are absolutely terrifying. That people are able to control their fear and stay calm walking across these ladders is beyond my comprehension. I can only dream of having such mental control and power!

Not really much else you can do. The Khumbu icefall is 20,000+ ft in elevation, higher than pretty much any other mountain on earth, in a region that's constantly moving with ice and is only climbable during 1 month of the year. It's not like you can drive some fire trucks up there

If you pause the video and look, the area to the right is an overhang on the other side. It's all unsupported, possibly loose snow, not supported by any ice. If they put weight on it, it'd probably collapse down into the crevasse. So they opt for the more stable area with packed down snow and a sturdy wall, even if it's a larger gap. If you look closer, you can see a crack in the snow just to the right of the packed snow the ladder rests on. Definitely unstable.

I walked up the side of the mountain to the Hollywood sign and had a panic attack while walking because I thought I'd run out of air (obviously not). How these people can do this is amazing and a mystery to me. And not something I will be trying any time soon. More power to you mountain trekkers.

I had my left knee replaced,, and like to hike,, but even the smallest of slants I do not feel safe with, so I go the long way around. I've read about it and honestly I don't know either, the people that do this travel on will alone. Every one of them is in pain also, from various ailments either picked up along the way or current ones made a lot worse with the thin air. It's literally just trying to breathe then take a couple steps and it takes hours to progress. By the time they make it down to the next camp they are completely useless and exhausted. They survive purely on luck. Insane.

Niksan Stha Two of my friends summited Everest a few weeks ago. Their sherpas were quite friendly they told. One of the two got snow blindness while climbing down(his sunglasses frosted up). So he anchored himself to his sherpa and climbed down just listening to his commands. His eyes are still red and a bit swollen. 🙏🏽

Same happened with phones real sketchy quality at first then perfect. The phone Im typing on now, is based on 4 components and so simply assembled Steve Jobs took all the accolades but again it was just a rearrangement of pre existing tech what military industry corps produced....there's no person down there, i understand its slightly.boggling but id bet its the most obvious, lightweight, any environment and easy to control...useful for assessing your ascent....im open to be wrong, i dont mind that.

Camaras on drone is normally small .. there should be some weight controlling factors .. To get that focus that it’s needed to get a big lenses and camara ..
