Don't be fooled by this video, it is normally a lot more chaotic at Dover, can take anything up to 2 hours to get through emigration control, will be worse when new checks come in in October, can't remember I drove through this easily.

Hard to find anywhere warm to sit on the ferry. Unless you go into one of the paid for restaurants

How long is the trip, including check-in, boarding and the sail?

Check in typically closes 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time (GMT). However, in high season and during the holidays, check in closes 120 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time (GMT). The ferry itself takes typically 1 hour 30 minutes.

If im seeing this correctly, tje PO didnt dock into PO poste 6? But rather in irish ferries slot - Poste 11? This is so confusing the entire process is more stressful and off putting than the actual driving in europe

PO tend to use berths 8 & 9 as they have the largest ships. Not sure what will happen now that they have sold the Spirit of Britain to Irish Ferries!!! The new PO ships do not have to turn round at either end now as they are true roll on roll off double ended ships.

When you book the ferry you fill in your car details. Other than that no obvious checks are carried out while boarding.

I went on DFDS ferry from Dover to Dunkirque

You can not see in this video but in the reality there is double and triple of HUGE ELECRIC FANCES before and all way through to board and get out of both of the fery and MOST of the chanel tunel... Huge tall and very long triple electric fancess aroung the whole these areas .

Driving in Europe is very easy. It will take alittle time to get used to driving on the other side of the road. City driving can challenging without google maps!

I prefer google maps over Apple Maps for European driving. Apparently the speed camera detection switches off automatically on Google maps when you're in France. Hope you enjoy your trip!

Follow car lane all the way until you come to check in with barries down, there after passport check they will give you slip to hang onto your car windscreen, on that slip it will tell your lane number follow that and you will be on your ferry ⛴️

@@Truth_seeker_24when i went from dover to calais it was only at dover when i went from calais to dover it had french and british passport control at calais when you arrive at dover you go straight to the road there is no passport control when u arrive

I can't lie, that ferry looks impressive, but I will never set foot on it for one very good reason: in 2022, I was sacked along with 800 other P&O employees, primarily to make way for these ferries that have come onto the short sea route.
