This conflict has so many implications... Patriotism- in which case I would point out that 'Palestine' was never associated with an autonomous country, ethnicity or defined culture. 'Palestinians' are simply people that have lived in the region of Palestine, which was renamed from Judea by the Romans shortly before they expelled the Jews from the region. On the other hand, the Hebrews are a clearly defined tribe associated with the area surrounding Israel, which formed two autonomous Kingdoms in the area, Judea and Israel. Politics- while I have my reservations about the ethical observations of military/economic superpowers I generally tend to lean towards the Western powers seeing as they have a much better track record for instituting democracies with basic human and civil rights than Eastern ones like China and Russia. In case you don't know, Israel is a buffer state for the West, while Iran and Syria are buffers for Russia and China. Legal observations- established by precedent of international law. In this case I honestly think that Palestine has a good chance of coming out on top, at least in terms of returning to the 1967 borders prior to the 6-days war. Unfortunately for them, most Palestinians don't accept the 'two state solution' and wish to reinstate Palestine's national borders to what they were prior to 1948, a legal impossibility seeing as Israel has already been recognized as a legitimate state by the UN. Ethics- most people taking the ethical perspective just want the killing to stop; while the other significant fraction believe that taking land from the Palestinians was unethical in the first place and it should be returned. I generally find most of these people to be naïve, because even though fundamentally I know there is a peaceful solution existing in theory, I know that the radicals on the Palestinian side will never accept it. As for the relocation of Palestinian Arabs, yes, in many ways it was un-ethical and unfair... but I believe that it served a greater purpose so that greater justice can come into fruition. Realism- Some people want to forget the past and concentrate on the present and future; they may look at the military capabilities of the Palestinian army and it's (in)ability to control HAMAS and secure the safety of it's own citizens and be discouraged in granting such a state more autonomy and greater military responsibility by increasing it's territory. They may look at the demands of HAMAS and many Palestinians an view them as unreasonable and disproportionate to their current population and military/economic influence. Most of all, they can probably see the stupidity in granting more power to a failed state largely influenced by terrorists which use human shields, target innocent civilians and are vocal about their intent to completely eradicate Israel.

If one wants to make an example of fascist state, lets look at Saudi Arabia, where no other religion is allowed, or Pakistan, where the non muslim minorities has gone from 26% in 1958 to 2.5% in 2014. As a gay person, who has personally been attacked and demanded to leave East London, i only know to well of the hypocrisy and radical fascism that is woven into the fabric of islamic ideology, as demonstrated in this video. I think many muslims need to address the abhorrent human rights abuse in many Islamic countries, before pointing the finger at others.

Israel is the only place where Christians in the Middle East are safe. Speaking immediately after UN panel discussion on the "Human Rights Situation in Palestine and Other Occupied Arab Territories," Nadaf called "it is time the world woke up to the fact that those who want to destroy the Jewish State are signing the death warrant on the last free Christians in the Holy Land. Whilst my sympathy lies with Palestine. As a Muslim and a student in London, I think such acts advocating such antisemitism is disgusting, and it is most definitely a issue. I have seen many pro Palestinian supporters hold the Israeli flag and the star of David in a derogatory way. I guess many never perceived half the things mentioned in this video, especially the entire emphasis on academic boycott, since this to my knowledge, has not happened in the UK, but is shocking none the less. However, I do have my doubts in regard to this video, an attempt to define what people have interpreted 'apartheid' as displacing the Israeli population, is an unfair account, when it may be representative of some, it cannot be called for an entire majority as this video implies. Also there is an emphasis on the Muslim contribution to these attacks here which I think is highly misleading in to who and why there is antisemitic tendencies in Pro Palestine protests. However, I think there is an equal amount of propaganda and racism being propagated by both sides and is present in Pro Palestine and Pro Israel demonstrations. I also don't understand how Pro Palestine supporters are being deemed supporters of a full Palestinian state through the displacement of the Jewish population? Does this then imply that pro Israel supporters are claiming they have posed pragmatic two state solutions? In my eyes, neither country has done much in its efforts to arrive at a stalemate in the least yet feign attempts and its appeals to appease the demands from international pressures. It is an obvious exchange of blame being catapulted on BOTH sides and yet neither seem to arrive at 'legitimate' solutions.

This is nothing new, and the professors are driving it. I attended university in the late 1970s and early 1980s and I saw the same thing. On one occasion I went to hear a Knesset member speak on campus. Much to my chagrin, there was an Arab professor debating a self hating Jewish professor (more on him later) taking the Israeli side (which he immediately stated he opposed). The self hating Jew deliberately misrepresented Israeli policies, and made no attempt to defend the Israeli position- he was just a prop in an anti Zionist dog and pony show. It turns out the Arab Students Association challenged the Knesset member to a debate, which he accepted. Then they demanded that the debate have a pro Palestinian moderator. When he refused that demand, he was disinvited to his own event. A couple of years later I happened to take a class in Latin American politics taught by this self hating Jewish professor. He constantly brought his noxious opinions about Israel into a class about a Latin America, where it was at most a peripheral issue. He referred to Ariel Sharon as "Herman Goring Sharon" and claimed that Menechem Begin was a devotee and admirer of Hitler. He claimed that David Ben Gurion was a follower of Josef Stalin (a real insult in his vocabulary- he was a Trotskyite). At one point he got so worked up he started to say "Hitler was right about the Jews" but perhaps "went a little too far". There was nothing that could be done because he was tenured and he'd scream "Zionist censorship!" if his bigotry were called into account. It was also well known that he failed students who disagreed with him openly (I saw that happen myself- he failed a student who admired Jeane Kirkpatrick and opposed the Sandinistas, inspite of the fact that he presented his views well and wrote an excellent term paper.

Not everyone is unwilling to listen to Pro-Israel's side on campus, and we can't group everyone together. There are two sides to every story, so if we want them to listen we need to listen too. This is a distubing trend, however, it cannot be sustained. The students will graduate and will shift their focus to career and family. The question is will these demonstrations result in real political influence as in voting and campaign contributions. I don't think so unless the number of Muslim voters equal that of Jewish voters in America. This is why the U.S. should not admit "Syrian" war refugees. In many ways these hysterical demonstrations are indicative of the weakness of the Arab people in Israel: Gaza has been crushed, the West Bank is a moth-eaten patchwork isolated islands. Israel is firmly in control of the area and no one, including the United States, can force it to act against its own interests.

This must be a work of many people, and selection of every such campus should be followed by a detailed explanation why it was selected. I was sorta with you up until that really disingenuous bit about being arrested for "speaking up for the country that I love". Ummm... that wasn't really why you were arrested. You were arrested for disrupting a community forum and not letting anyone else speak. Kinda contradicted all that talk about dialogue at the beginning the piece. And then to wrap it all up in a willfully naive bit about "being arrested for speaking my mind"... come on. With all the claims of unfair demonization, it was a poor choice to start getting cute with the truth. Also boycotts have been used by all kinds of movements throughout time by all kinds of people. Boycotts aren't necessarily, a hateful action. In fact, considering all the different means expression that are currently happening in the world, an organized boycott of products and investment seems pretty darn civil. Still, you did show enough to intrigue me. But I would like to hear your defense of the some of the more controversial aspects of Israel, like the limiting of Palestinian freedom of movement via checkpoints, the Israeli settlers who seem intent on expanding their settlements into disputed territory with no regard for the peace process, and the support of a Palestinian state by Israel (since you were so concerned about the lack of recognition Israel right to exist in this piece). I think these are the things people are upset about. Rather than say, all this is untrue, show me how. Again, interesting video. I hope both sides can find peaceful solution soon.

Changa Damany Imara Limiting freedom of movement in the territories is a result of Yasser Arafat's 2nd Intifada terrorist campaign in 2001-2003. Hundreds of innocent Israeli civilians were slaughtered by the Hamas and Islamic Jihad movements in these years in suicide bombings, car bombs, stabbing, kidnapping, you name it. Then came the IDF operation "Shield Wall", they cleaned out the Hamas, but if the IDF removes the restrictions or lowers its guard even for one day they come back. The Hamas uses every last opportunity to kill Israeli civilians, just last month they ran over people waiting in a bus station right in the center of the city.
@antonymscalia39249 жыл бұрын
Changa Damany Imara No, she was arrested for allegedly "speaking out of turn", meaning that she chose to speak when she realized she was not going to be given a "turn." That's different than shouting down the Ambassador from Israel at an invited speaking engagement.

just a small remark : even in the quran it is written that allah gave israel to the jews.... Al-Araf, Chapter 7, Verse 137 and Al-Isra, Chapter 17, Verse 104 a fact to think about.....

i would rather call anti-zionism a form of xenophobia rather than anti semitism. it is xenophobia because the underlying statement is not ''israel is IN violation of human rights'' but ''israel is A violation to human rights''. The same thing is starting to happen now with china because of hong kong. western protestors use the slogan ''FUCK CHINA'' to support hong kong. is this realy how we want to carry on as humanity? people have been like this for the entire history and it has never solved any conflict. it just makes it worse. i think its about time we do things differently.

If you really support Israel you should have a T Shirt with Israel's symbol and a smiley face on it (which is blue) and says 'have a nice day Palestinian'. That would be a great way to show your support for Israel. I know many will appreciate it.
