Congratulations on a fantastic accomplishment! That is quite a feat that few have done. Yes, folding props and a bowsprit with a code-O would be great upgrades for your boat. But think on the bright side- I think it took Barry- Adventures of an Old Sea Dog around 67 days to make the same passage. 🙄 Cheers

We thought this was one of the best videos we've seen detailing what it's actually like when you're stuck in a small space for 30 days. Thank you so much for taking us on your journey. Hilarious how 1 video ago you were complaining about a bird and now you're practically welcoming it into your home. LOL Loved the part about Davis telling us about school. More please! From the perspective of the video, it seems like you all are always going. One thing we've always wondered when watching YT videos is how much downtime there really is. We would love to see a "day in the life" video with what you're doing hour by hour (when sailing). We've heard there's lots of downtime, but no one ever shows that part (understandably so).
@SailingParadiseFalls

Thank you so much for understanding! We got a lot of hate last week for all my complaining. Sucked that it was released on Mother’s Day of all days. The third week was the hardest. After that it was a countdown to arrival. We are sailing tomorrow so maybe I’ll do a day in the life. Sailing days are rather boring, lots of movies, books and laying around honestly unless something unexpected pops up which we all pray doesn’t happen. Davis really has not wanted me to show to much of him but he’s starting to embrace it. It’s just a tough transition for a pre-teen especially since there are going through hormonal changes at the same time.

Another brilliant video. I totally get your frustration about the props. 1.5kts doesn’t sound like much until you add it up over a few weeks. If you were at least getting some regeneration to your batteries it might be worth it, but without that, folding props are a must have! So glad you made it safe and almost sound 😂. I always have my notes open when I watch your videos to update my lists on spare stuff to carry!
@SailingParadiseFalls
@SailingParadiseFalls 3 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yes, 1.5 knots gain does sound like a lot until you add it up - 6 days of my life!!! If your just doing the Bahamas I do t know if I would get them but if your crossing oceans they are essential! I too used to keep notes in my OneNote app every time someone said something. Good thinking😉 It’s been SO helpful!

Woot! So happy for you guys! Wtf is with all the chaffing of lines on that boat? Is it die to poor charter maintenance that didn’t get detected in the last break in Bahamas? Or poor design of boat? User error? Teach me. Literally you guys are my favorite channel. So consistent, so informative. You guys seem like my kind of people.
@SailingParadiseFalls
@SailingParadiseFalls 3 ай бұрын
The chafe just happens and you have to on the lookout. The jib halyard was bc there was no seizing wire on that shackle (and the rigger didn’t suggest any). We knew flying the sails for 30 days was going to create a lot of chafe points but we just stayed vigilant. Some lines to we figured out chafe quicker than others while all being from the same company 🤷‍♀️

When the hammock went up my wife said "Yes Please!". Looks like that thing is worth it's weight in gold. Congratulations on French Polynesia! Kinda a geeky question, how are the Raymarine (lighthouse) charts in FP? Do you use openCPN?
@SailingParadiseFalls

Your wife NEEDS a hammock! Crazy thing is we couldn't figure out were to hang it for almost an year!! It's no ideal but we all enjoy it very much!! Rob says he purchased the Navionics charts for all of the Pacific that have worked well. The chartlocker website you can download charts which include satellite imagery to plan. Open CPN is not downloadable to our chartplotter. You have to use a computer.

Can I ask what is wrong with your sail? Why does it constantly need repairing? Why does it constantly rip it’s not good material?
@SailingParadiseFalls
@SailingParadiseFalls 3 ай бұрын
In episode 45, the halyard chaffed through due to Just Cats giving us incorrect information on how to sail the Paradailor from our mast. It dumped into the ocean and took us over an hour to retrieve it. In the process it got several small tears and scratches. We had it repaired in Shelter Bay. The scratches didn’t need repairing yet as we were told but after flying it for multiple days it stretched the scratches turning them into tiny rips.
