We crossed the scary and stressful border from Laos to Cambodia. Apparently, it is the worst-rated border on Google Maps, so we prepared ourselves as best as we could, doing research on the different scams they do at the border. Still, we had to pay money at the border, but it was inevitable for a smooth journey. We wanted to cross the border as fast as we could.
After crossing the border, most people take the bus straight to Siem Reap, but we opted to stay at Strung Treng, a border town, for one night to cut our journey in half. The city was very charming and bustling with life. We spent a night here, soaked in the local atmosphere, and indulged in delicious street food.
Next, we are going to Siem Reap. We are very excited about this as it is full of majestic temples and rich history!

Those bikes were going so fast, it was bit concerning but still funny to see 😅 And data is cheap for sure! We didn’t have any problems with it.

Wow, interesting border crossing .... anyway, keep grinding....As a content creator, KZbin is tough.... but step-by-step.... We will get there..... And Yeah!... South East Asia is a great place for starters and budget travellers as well.... as there are 10 countries to explore ( Well, excluding Myanmar as the moment ) , well hope you have the chance to come down all the way across Peninsular Malaysia and into Singapore..... Will be keeping an eye on your travels as well.... Cheers mates!!

Thank you so much for watching and your kind words. Being a content creator is definitely hard but we have to keep going on! :) South East Asia is indeed ideal for that, we’ve had a great time so far. We really hope to go to Malaysia and Singapore in the future. We’re currently staying in Thailand for the next few months. They’re right next to each other😉

When you cross this border you should know in advance what the visa fees are and have exact amount. That goes for both sides. If you hand a border official a fifty dollar bill for a thirty-five dollar fee , you won't get change and you won't be in a position to raise an argument about it. They can easily delay you and make you miss your ride. Don't show that you have more than the proscribed fee. Seriously.

Some great advice! Don't show them more than they need. Still, very stressful experience for some especially if they find something wrong with the papers. Thanks for sharing! 🙏👍

May I ask did you pre-book Savet Guesthouse before arriving at Strung Treng or you booked it on the day of arrival? Also can you use visa card payment or only Riel or US dollars ?

We pinpointed some guesthouses on Google maps before arriving in Strung Treng. We didn’t book anything in advance. We went to the hotel to look at the rooms first and then we booked it directly there but they’re also on booking.com if you want to book it before arrival :) We paid with US dollars because we didn’t have the chance to exchange money yet but you can also pay with Riel. I’m not sure if you can pay with visa at the hotel but at most places you can pay with visa but you have to keep in mind that you will most likely pay an extra fee. So, we would recommend having cash (US dollar or Riel). It will save you some money! Thank you for watching the video ☺️

How do you get around as most people don't speak English? Do you need to use VPN with your local internet?
@sheepandshepherds
@sheepandshepherds Жыл бұрын
@@u2ber888 A basic level of English can be found anywhere. If in doubt most probably any Guesthouse owner will be able to help you out in English. Aside from that using body language, gestures and Google Translate app really helps communicating with anybody, anywhere. VPN is recommended, especially for finances and making bookings, we use Nordvpn (not sponsored) but there's a lot of other good ones out there like expressvpn. Definitely use those when being connected to WiFi, mobile networks are usually safe but you never know.
