Features We NEED in the Next Animal Crossing Game

My main qualm with new horizons was always that its supposed to be a TOURIST DESTINATION but only 10 people live there and the only tourists you get are a single villager locked inside their tent every couple of weeks. I would have loved to have some villagers that come visit the island and wander to look at things daily. Maybe like 3-5 visitors, it could possibly increase based on the island rating. You could talk to them, watch them shop and maybe complete lil chores/ quests for them. Maybe you still can only invite from nmt islands and the campsite but a feature like that would make it feel much more like the vacation spot you're supposed to be making. It would make much better use of the massive collection of characters they have for the game too.

it would be so fun if on the last sunday of the month kapp’n went hopped off his boat and walked around with his family. It would also be fun if tom and isabelle went outside a bit and such. And we could get special dialogue from tom going to the tailor’s and seeing sable. bring back animal crossing families!!

One thing I remember my mom criticizing about Happy Home Paradise is that she wished the places she customized such as the school, hospital, and restaurants could have been part of her own island which gave me an idea on something I would love to see in the next game. Since a big part of New Horizons was building your own island and something we heavily missed from previous games are the downtown/city places, imagine if the next game brought back the option to have all the shops and stuff back, but now you could customize them and place them anywhere. This would be a great way to bring the Happy Home Paradise stuff into the next game.

It would be great if we could interact with the amenities (ride the rides, ride the bikes, mopeds, float on the inner tubes) Also dogs that look like breeds. Scottish Terrier, Australian Cattle Dog, German Shepherd, etc.

This is legit why I’m excited for the Switch 2 being backwards compatible. Another island, woo! I had no clue how to play when I started (it took me over a month to get enough iron to build Timmy & Tommy’s store 🤦‍♀️). I would love to have a do-over where I actually understand the mechanics better without having to wipe out my original island.

I think the reason why nooks cranny didn't upgrade as much as previous games, was because Nintendo wanted to put much more of an emphasis on the crafting system. That's a big reason why I'd like to see the crafting system dialed way back, and to get rid of tool durability, at the very least on golden tools.

I know ACNH is supposed to be the "modern" version of this game, but i missed things like the iconic train that was in most animal crossing games. I don't know if they did away with the train because trains aren't that used these days or something, but I've always thought of the train in animal crossing as an iconic thing. I know it's a game about island living and islands tend to not have trains, but still, this game didn't feel as cozy vintage like the other games because of it. I also missed the police building and the post office. What can i say, i love a towny feeling in my animal crossing.

I’d like to see more shop upgrades, definitely and bulk crafting but I’d also like to have the option to just buy recipes all things that in new Horizon July on shooting down balloons or luck, I know most people would say that it’s taking away the fun of it but I see it is an accessibility option make them three or four times the price of normal things so there’s still a reason to shoot down balloons or get them for free from villages but to have the option there for people who want it or hell even make them only buy a bill by a special currency or something that you may get by completing request or returning must items. Like I said, I see it is an accessibility feature, but I do think it would be very useful, especially if there’s no guarantee that you’ll be on the game at the set times when villages are crafting to get their Recipes.

without even watching the video here are my thoughts on what they should add 😂 Land bridges, swimming in rivers, changing where the river "mouths" are, shops ON THE ISLAND for the campsite peeps, being able to vault pole over gaps in land without water, buying in bulk for everything, crafting in bulk, layering clothing (I want to be able to wear a shirt and a coat lol) I'd honestly like to see them do nore with Brewster -i miss being able to work for him-, and %100 fix the Nook's shop and bring back Gracie grace!!! LaBelle is cool and all but it just isn't the same I miss her shop that she had! I also miss having to go to shops to do things, such as haircuts lol. that gave me more motivation to play the game. I miss the post office and I don't feel they had a good reason to get rid of that. the night club in New leaf, although random, gave a nice carefree aspect to the game, and I like being able to rack up the emotes in THAT way, rather than waiting for a villager to come up to you. I think it would be cool instead of automatically having your island size fully maxed out, they should 1.make the max size of the island bigger, and 2. make it so you have to buy more land depending on how big you want your island. ie start with a certain size plot then after working for nook a bit you can buy more. Lastly (that I've thought of for now lol) I think it would be cool to have a fitness meter for how active you are with fishing and bug catching. then if you get it high enough you get some sort of reward lol. I could also see a big change like that being annoying though, and I could see that making it feel less like animal crossing so 🤷‍♀️. just my thoughts! I wish I had a place to say this to Nintendo but I feel like it's useless to email them my ideas lol 😂 I hope anyone who took the time to read that will share your thoughts with me!! bow I'm going to watch the video lol 😂😂❤ edit : one more thing, I miss not being on an island, and rather having it be a town. New things id like to see, bridges over cliffs where we dont need rivers under them. the ability to make pass throughs through 2nd and 3rd tier levels, kinda like a tunnel. The ability to rename islanders and/or ask them to leave when we want them too. More fruits and veggies we can grow and farm. add businesses or 2nd home to island, BIGGER ISLANDS!

The Welcome Amiibo Update was the most incredible thing and added SO much to New Leaf-- I remember being absolutely blown away because the update came out of nowhere and breathed some new life into the game. I wish they'd do something similar to New Horizons because the game has SO much potential, if only it wasn't dropped so quickly and unceremoniously.

If we have islands back (which I would be cool with) I think we should be able to have multiple islands per save. Palia is a similar game and plots that you can save and change between. It's really annoying that another profile on the switch has to play with the same island. Bulk Crafting would be nice too!!!

I would like, if they're going to give us a phone, to be able to call villagers. Maybe they'd tell us what acre, row, or column they're in, what building they're in or near, or mention something they can see. Maybe you could even receive calls from other villagers (though there might be some issues with balancing how often they call).

I would love to see villagers actually interacting with items you put out, like the plaza ferris wheel or carousel. They just sorta walk around and look at them, and it's a bit boring and sorta like "Why did I even build this in the first place???" I think items like that should be for more than just aesthetic purposes

For me, interactivity of items is the most important. I would love to see swing sets get brought in where we could play with a friend by pushing one another or racing on the swings and seeing who can get the highest… riding on bicycles, swimming in pools… just things you can actually do together. More mini games too of course. And more stackable items, closer proximities and such.

Bob's Gang! 1. We need the ability to have the same creation tools from Happy Home Paradise to speed things up in the main Animal Crossing New Horizons game. 2. We need the ability to craft multiple items at once. 3. More interactivity with some items, e.g. being able to jump in the hot tub. 4. Be able to buy multiple items at once in Able Sisters' and Nook's Cranny. 5. Prevent island visitors from shaking trees or picking/damaging flowers, and so on. 6. Reduced dialog when selecting options, e.g. when flying to work or someone else's island. Online should be assumed if there's no direct connection.

1. Pets: I would like to have a dog or a cat for a pet, it could help me find fossils. 2. Cosplay Villager: They can create a Villager who is obsessed with Cosplay. He can be dressed like Nintendo Characters when they bring new games and give us special items. 3. Nintendo Characters visit: It would be awesome every now and then to visit my island Mario, Link, Samus and every other nintendo character. I could have a quest with them to complete in a week or something. 4. Open World: It would be perfect to create an online mode with an enormous city, which every player can design only a part of this land. His House, and then live with the other players online in a city, with work, play, swim and everything.

I want them to expand on cooking. Have villagers request that you cook things for them. When they're sick, make it so you can make them soup in addition to giving them medicine. Give them all favorite foods or flavors that give you additional friendship points when you give them those. I also want the barista mini game at The Roost to return, but add even more jobs. Keep things like the school and hospital in HHP and let us work part time at those too if we want. Or even let us choose to work part time at Nook's again like at the very start of Wild World, making deliveries to other villagers, and in exchange Nook deducts a bit from our current loan amount. And most importantly, if outdoor decorating is going to remain such a big part of the game from here on out, let the villagers interact with what I make. If I put out a pool or tea cup ride I wanna see villagers using them, not just commenting on the fact that they exist.

Bob's Gang. I would like to see a change within the villagers too. At first meeting them they aren't very friendly, but as you build friendships with them we get more and different conversations with them. I agree that cranky and snooty should stay cranky and snooty but maybe as you become better friends, they become less cranky and snooty. This would also be a good way to determine how far you are from getting their photos.

More shops, more shop upgrades, more mini games, more seasonal events, better villager dialogue/friendship progression (I HATE how villagers just automatically worship you and are all nicey nice, I want mean villagers to make a comeback!). Bring back Resetti, bring back love triangle lore and more! I don't really care about decorating etc, if I'm being honest. The animal crossing charm comes from the characters, the way that characters interact with each other, daily interactions with NPCs and background music for me.

My biggest wish for the next Animal Crossing is a larger world consisting of differently themed areas. Kinda like how we've been able to travel to the city or the vacation islands from HHP, only you'd be able to customize them, build on them, and have players and villagers live there. So you'd have something like a city, countryside town, forest, and island, and you'd have different villagers living in all of them. Each area also comes with its own assortment of fruits/flowers/crops, bugs/fish, crafting materials, collectibles, etc. I would really like this because there are so many themes and items in the game that I want to use on my island so I end up making differently themed areas for them but I never have enough space to fit in everything I want and it doesn't really go well together. Like I don't want to choose between cottage core vibes or more modern urban style, I want all of it!

One thing I noticed is that there's a pot with some Venus Fly Traps on the table to the right of the Hermit Crab and Dwarf Roach cage. Now we know what Blathers does to deal with fly escapes, not that he's doing much with the ants flocking to them at the moment. Also, do you think they'll ever add an extra exhibit? One based on astronomy where Blather's sister, Celeste can help out with. Like, maybe right across from the Roost on the second floor? And hey, maybe they could even turn that wing of the museum into an observatory that also shows on the outside too? I was also wondering why some of the other smaller fossils like the dino footprint, fossilized dino poop, and archeopteryx (maybe also the Juramia but it kinda makes sense next to the Dimetrodon), aren't in the first area when you enter the fossil exhibit. Like, some of the other decor items there don't make sense. What's up with the random stuffed Tarantula, Squid, Crab and Jellyfish and the random set of flat mushrooms and weeds in some of the cases? They could easily have been replaced with the fossils I just mentioned and maybe in their place could be some other cool, while still on the smaller scale, more fitting dinos like the Velociraptor.

The thing i disliked about acnh is that it never felt complete. I missed things like the post office, police station, stand alone cafe, mini games on the island, etc. Acnh released new updates like diving like it was a new big thing when we could already do it in new leaf. I would rather wait longer for a complete game than releasing old features like they are new. The game was such a disapointment to me. I'd love to see those buildings, and of course more implementations of happy home designer.

Remake New leaf. Bigger town. New Horizons' custom designs system and town customization, allowing players to place items almost anywhere. Make villagers less friendly/downright mean when you first meet them, depending on the villager.

I agree, but I would also add more recipes. And more updates instead of just forgetting everyone 4+ yrs after the release…. Why not do at least 1-2 times a year updates until the next release to keep players engaged with new items and critters, especially if they they are going to go 5-6 yrs between game releases. Also maybe putting seasonal items on a 2-3 yr rotation so that the items and recipes you get change every yr over a 2-3 yr cycle so you don’t end up collecting everything the first year and then it’s all the same ol repeats every year thereafter. It would be nice to maybe take out loans once you’ve expanded your home and storage to be able to expand your island more, or unlock nearby islands to be other towns or shopping areas or parks and adding more residents either to an island expansion or to put on nearby islands you can expand to.

What I'd really like is more a quality of life thing, when you're getting a heap of stuff out of inventory to sell, to be able to block select a whole lot of things at once, instead of individually moving to inventory - there's an option to do this putting stuff into your wooden storage shed/house, so why not when getting stuff out? Agree with your comments on villagers, and I'll add that I'd also like to see each villager remember what they say and how they react, like if they're a chump to you one day, they may apologise the next, or bring up say a net vs. head incident from several months ago as they hold a grudge. Also, a better range of dialogue would be welcome. Seems like they all say pretty much the same thing on rotation. I also think it'd be funny if villagers could steal stuff, so f you drop some bells to make room to go get something cos you can't be bothered going to back to the house/storage shed, and some villager takes it. You could then have a mystery to try and figure out who nicked it, and then maybe have a confrontation - they could also have a more sinister personality where they lie to your face about it! That be hilarious. I'd also say because maybe little kids could have their feelings hurt, or people don't want that sort of stuff in their game, be able to toggle an option for them to be jerks, and what we have now with niceness is just the default.

I know a lot of people wanted things from previous games myself included.. no game is perfect but.. New Leaf had so many lovely qualities. The main thing i strongly disliked about New Horizons was that they removed all of the things that made AC special. There was no Resetti, No mail delivery pelicans, no post office, no mini games, they had switch consoles but no mini games? There are mini games in almost every single game. They had Mario Items but no other special nintendo items... I just hope with the next game they put into consideration what the OG Fans love about these games... I could go on and on but.. yeah. I did love New Horizons they did a phenomenal job with the game. Im still addicted 2025! I love the hand held items, i love the crops but.. man we didn't even get Perfect Peaches, Grapes, bananas... I miss those sassy villagers from the original game 😂 i hate how "perfect" all the characters are.. I at least hope with the next game they bring back the things that made Animal crossing what it used to be.. I miss the original characters. I dont mind New characters but don't remove the things that made it special.

I'd love to see playable instruments. Imagine instead of just pressing a, when you interact with you "play it" by pressing different buttons. Each button could be a different key and tone, like the ocarina from Zelda, but every instrument And I'd like to see something similar to Super Mario Paint for making a town tune

I been playing a lot of Disney Dreamlight Valley and kinda ditched Animal Crossing for it. But what I would love to see added to the next game that I liked the Dreamlight Valley has. Is diners where you can have your character serve meals to the townies to earn some money. Also stalls where you can buy things to craft with. Along with things spawning more then once a day & not having things like buildings take a day to be put up/build. I feel like if AC did that it would make me want to play it again. Rather then trying to play it and getting to the point where it feels like I have nothing to do. So I go find something else to play.

I know that new horizons was meant to be used on the internet and such, but I would love a mode that allowed us to have access to diy recipes and more without connecting to the internet, as my connection doesn’t work well for the switch. This is just me though, but it would be nice to have a mode for those of us who prefer to game alone.

And, frankly, If I had started with the original or Wild World, I'd've given up on the series right then and there (and, having emulated WW, I gave up on it after like 4 hours of play over 3 days because of the villagers). Definitely glad to have started with New Leaf.

I noticed yours are mostly mini game based which is fine. I agree with that since not much to do around when you've literally done everything. what I personally want as NH was my first well okay pocket camp was my technical first AC game. But I'd like personally -more unique dailogue between the characters. It felt like in pocket camp each character was practically their own and unique. they weren't one specific type. I loved Carmen because she was sassy in pocket camp but when in NH she along with so many others all had the same dialogue same everything. Maybe mobile was easier because you can expand upon it via band with, and I'm hoping with the processing power of the new switch it can allow more uniqueness out of the character's other than it always being like a groundhog day situation. same lines same feelings, nothing new. At times I didn't even care to talk to my villagers because I knew what they were going to say anyway. -I'd love it like pocket camp to actually USE the items. we got a ferris wheel, we got a tea cup ride, we got a car or scooter or all these things, and we don't even get the chance to use them, they're JUST there as decoration. I'd love to be able to scoot around or actually see me and other NPC's use the stuff we have other than just chairs or simple things. Or even sitting in a car or truck and being at least able to turn on the music within it along with a villager relaxing in one. So utilizing the items other than just decorations would be a big one for me. -I'd love it if our character had the option to sing. It's clear for the NPC that they sing along to any song that is playing, if we had emote that let us sync with the song via the code if the song that we're closet too was playing we'd also be able to sing along besides just bobbing our heads. -I do hope they keep the customization since that's a big one -I'd love if we can also use baths and even dive into rivers. Not sure why that was never the case to begin with when it's clear that the fandom wants that as well. to swing around in your own pond or river would be fun. Or using the bath or shower or even our own items in our home like the sink for washing our hands or brushing our teeth if we want. I can see that being a cute feature instead of just turning it on and off. -I'd love more costume design slots since I feel like I never have enough and the possibilities are endless. -I'd also like vehicles like RV's we can go into and use as space or such like Pocket camp making it our own as well and such which would be cool to have if you have a wooded theme for a place. now these are more of a stretch but -I'd love if we had items that are correlated to the type we want, like we're going for a City theme? Here's some City buildings that have lights on them and make a city theme, going for medieval? here's the medieval buildings and market where you can place stuff in stalls. they almost had that with the caste and such but it would be cool to both have the castle walls and such but also have a big castle in general to place. Or going for just wooded style? Have a cave you can actually go in and decorate it and use it for fun like a "second home" but you can find villagers inside relaxing or doing what they want as well inside and have a nature themed. Have more themed items for what people are looking for. Space theme, here's a big rocket and rovers you can drive around in and not just placed not to do much with. If we can decorate our place idk if it'll still be an Island, but if we can decorate it the way we see fit with actual theme with buildings as esthetics that would be wonderful -it would also be wonderful to just place down buildings or have more villagers open shops and be able to customize that shop for the theme you have other than just pre-made already to go. Like for clothing or even a place to get a drink, let us have the option to go with city core, medieval core, space core etc. -More unique items would be nice in general for what a player is aiming for -I'd love more space actually personally like let us pick how big or small the place can be like how we got to pick our own island. I always felt like there was NEVER enough room. Then again I was basing mine off of my own series so I tried my best to implement it as best as I could -I'd love items you can also place IN the water and this time just like a house where you tap down to customize the room I'd love that for building as well where you can place items down better without always getting stuck and having to call rescue service since that get's annoying. Especially when a villager is there and you can move the villager away from it. And they shown you can do this btw when doing Happy Home Paradise to make the outside act like a room when it was time to decorate. -I'd also love for pathways that are customizable that if you select what sound they should make when walking on it, instead always hearing like a rubbery plastic sound, you get to have pathways that actually sound like stone, grass, etc instead of just well a sticker sound if you were to walk on a sticker. By selecting at the same time what sound it should make -I know humans for us players are always the go to but I'd love it if we could make or have customizable outfits that make us look like villagers and not just the silly "costumes" that they put in. Like what if you don't want to BE a human and you want to theme it after something? That buying a costume that resembles a villager of your choice would be amazing. -also I'd love it if we can actually CALL OUR VILLAGERS! You know how many times I got lost trying to find someone or giving up not knowing where they are?! We have a phone we could ring them up and ask them to come to us or meet us at said place so we can give them stuff. I got tired exhausted even rolling my eyes trying to find one villager that takes 10 minutes to find! And I'd love to utilize that as also like "oh let's go get a drink, let's do something to gether, let's hang out" I don't want to use an amiibo card to bring them there when they're already at the roost anyway. let me be able to have the option to let my already in my village villagers hang out with me elsewhere other then their home and or my home. of course everyone is talking about "I want the dock and air port moved etc" remember if it's a new animal crossing game it may not even take place on an island and air port since the last one was train, now we come by plain, what if we come by boat next time? Like a personal cruise? We don't know. Yes having the ability to move the docks or airports or another train area would be nice. But we don't know where the next animal crossing will take place. That's why I'd love it if we do have a new area, I'd love more room to work with in general. those are just my takes on it though, I'm sure most of these won't even be implemented since Nintendo does what it wants so lol This time I'll have to see if it's worth buying this time around

Going to Tortimor's Island could be a random island via the airport or when booking Cap'n for a randon island. I don't personally care for mean and rude characters. Nintendo could definitely make good money on new villagers and new amiibo cards or figurines. I used to play new horizons every day for several hours. Now once a day for an hour or so. I've restarted several times and now just sticking with what I've got. I'd put down good money to have fresh content to new horizons which is my favorite version. New leaf was my 2nd favorite. I definitely think we should be able to choose thr climate on our island. I live in Wisconsin and I hate winter and snow. I'd choose tropical weather year round. I never make the snowmen. Its a wonder they havent added the ability to customize clothing you buy. You could go to the Able Sisters and have them do it. Theres been many pieces of clothes I've wanted and yet, often come in a colour pallet that isnt me and does not match the outfit as a whole. I also want the atmosphere and writing of Population Growing to comeback. I miss when the villagers insulted you. It felt more alive and natural. While that game didnt have much in the way of its mechanics, it had its pros with its atmosphere, writing, music and aesthetics. A game with that and the gameplay of City Folk through New Horizons would be the best mix. Call me a masochist but I laughed whenever they would rage and call you a 'freak mental case'. It was fun picking on them like you're their annoying bigger sibling. Maybe have some way out at sea activities like owning a boat and going out to fish. To catch such fish that you necessarily wouldn't find closer to the shore. Potential higher profit at the expense of maintaining your boat and possibly putting yourself in danger. Hit a rock, boat sinks, you get thrown back to the town like you pass-outed from getting stung by a bug. Then you got to repair your boat. Or the weather has some impact. Misc activities like talking to the fountain in Population Growing would be a neat touch. You interact with it and it gives you a buff or debuff to your town. I also miss when the OG game had piers on their lakes. It was such a vibe fishing from there and watching the fireworks event. More villagers living in your town. OG game had 15. It felt much more lived in and like a small community. I've been mixed on Harv's Island. While its nice to have all the shops in one centralized location, it takes away from the game as the randomness in past games of special NPCs coming to your town gave you added reason to check in everyday. A much bigger map. The island in New Horizons felt very tiny to me. I remember the OG game being much larger than the rest. More events per month, like the Sports Fair in the OG game. Bring back rewards for doing things. Paying off debt. While it was nice to have it as a optional thing to do in New Horizons. Fully expanding the home didnt provide me personally with much benefit. Bring back all different sizes of Gyroids. This was a big buzzkill for me in New Horizons as it was really exciting to hunt for the Gyroids and their families. Only to find you only have one each. I could keep going but at this point it would be like making a text-book. lol

I feel like new horizons straddles an impossible line. So much customization that it breaks the feeling of your island being 'real' but not enough customization to give absolute creative power to the player. It feels like a compromise rather than a pure game design choice. I can see the appeal of terraforming but I get annoyed that i can't move river mouths. I enjoy the feeling of a village that is one I inhabit rather than control, but then terraforming has already broken that forth wall. I guess i just hope in the next one they commit to one or the other. Sometimes it reminds me of how movie studios will greenlight a movie idea but require it to tie into an existing franchise even if it doesn't make sense. Like Nintendo wanted a Minecraft competitor so it got grafted into animal crossing.

Not being able to customize the permanent buildings in a game that focuses so much on customization is baffling. Nook's Cranny is the worst for me. It doesn't go with so many themes other than like, kidcore or stuff with bright colors. I think it's hideous. Just changing the colors of the buildings would be great.
