My best friend was in this drum Corp played trumpet. And shortly after we lost our schools beloved band director and this composition embodies him and we have use this composition style for years and I'm crying I miss him so much and my friend who was in the crossmen has told me he felt his style in the composition of this piece in it and it made us both listen with tears in our eyes

Did Crossmen always march Flugelhorns in their trumpet section?

At the time, yes. It was their signature sound. Previous years it was a lead alto part and featured more often, but I think this year it was mostly covering the 3rd trumpet part. I'm unsure when they stopped.
