I like your videos a lot. You cover in detail what you say you're going to and don't presume we know more, which I think a lot of other skating instructors do. Which is fine, unless I dont know the basics they think I should yet.

Just woke up to this video at like 530am. Love that you do these outside. I’m about to head outdoors and I havent skated in about a week and a half (huge backside bruise). You gave me a new thing to try. Especially since no one is on the right now. Thank you for always being so upbeat and making the breakdown easy ❤️🩹

I so deeply appreciate how you break moves down into small steps to practice. I live for drills. As an older, bigger skater it's important for me to feel confident and strong with foundational movements before launching in. And, in my experience, that's the "secret" to finding the flow and joy in any sort of movement practice -- skating, yoga, hooping, etc ❤

Thanks for another great video! I was doing your "quick win" at the local rink last Saturday, and a teenager came up to ask me how to do it because it looked cool. I skated around with her and explained how to do it. Then I let her in on the secret of why I was doing it - I'm not a great skater, and it's the easiest way for me to skate other than just doing plain bubbles all of the time. LOL

Hello Katie, this is a random video however I wanted to thank you for creating these beginner series for people like me who started skating at very late age (27 and I have never put on skates before) because teaching everything step by step helps more than trying to imitate a movement in one go. İt has been one month since I have been skating and I can tell you that watching your videos for forward and backwards skating made an amazing distance on my skate journey! I cannot wait to start crossovers! 🌸🌸

Would having wide wheels be a disadvantage when practicing these? I think I need narrow wheels to really drill this
@Skatie3 ай бұрын
Wide wheels are great for taking corners etc fast but can make these types of skills a little tricker as your wheels are more likely to catch together. Make sure to give each foot enough space so your wheels don’t touch.

How do you skate during winter? It’s hopeless trying to ask people with YT canals in LA because they won’t understand 😅 But I’m thinking a British person will understand the Scandinavian weather a little better.. I just learned roller skating and I’d like to train during winter. Is there a way doing it outside without dying or will I have to go to a skater hall?
@Skatie3 жыл бұрын
😂 THIS!! we were discussing this because it’s feeling very autumnal here already. We started the channel in March and my hands where freezing for the first few videos. I think we’re going to have to go into a hall for some of winter as it’s just going to be too 🥶
@Hkhjazz3 жыл бұрын
Haha same here! Urgh, I just knew I would have to find somewhere inside during winter🥶 If you come up with a good idea for an outside area, I would love it! It's just not fair when those Californians say "I just go roller skating by the beach in November".. They literally don't know what 'November weather' is 😅
@jb8372 жыл бұрын
If you skate in inline you can buy powerslide torrents wheels and a cheap pair of bearings or if you have the budget you can go for the powerslide anti rust. I can't give you my opinion on the quads skates.
@toby99992 жыл бұрын
@@jb837 I think inline skates are more suitable for outdoors. That said, I tried to transition from quads but failed. Turning seems impossible.

I dont have heels on my rios, Would that help me.
@Skatie Жыл бұрын
Having a heeled skate pushes your weight towards the ball of your foot. However flat skates don’t do this so you just need to be sure to bend your knees that much more and keep your knees over your toes to stop those backwards falls. It’s very much down to the style of skating you’re doing and personal preference whether to go for a heeled or flat boot. I swap to flat skates for park skating.
