I've always wanted to be a jewel thief. I dabbled in some thievery in my younger years but ultimately I'm far, far too much of a giant nerd for a life of crime. They'd kill me for sure, I just _look_ like an easy mark. I'm not, but by the time they realize that it's kinda too late for me anyway. Oh well. I guess if my life ever falls apart entirely I could give it a shot though. I'm gonna burn out one of these days, so it's either that or grow a sick bear and become a deep sea fisherman

Hey Splatt, I actually really like this style of game, where you have to expand your venue and the Medieval theme makes it so much better, like playing the Sims but required to make money and progress doing it. I may very well consider this as y next purchase, feel free to let the developers know you influenced a sale of their product, maybe they'll give you more free copies to demo of other games. They did, but you are right. It was more common to be called foul play, sacrifice, or because the person was a sinner. Back then, the average lifespan was like 25-35 years, though.

"Disease" was known, but the actual microbial lifeforms and viral agents that cause most diseases were NOT known or even remotely understood. I'm not saying ancient peoples were incompetent, far from it. Any animal has an innate ability to sense disease; a necessary survival tactic which stems all the way back to the first microbial lifeforms on earth billions of years ago. But even the term "heart disease" is really an umbrella term that covers a myriad of cardio vascular and pulmonary issues. And new diagnoses are developed continuously. So 500 years ago, heart disease may not have been a standard "medical" diagnosis for medical practitioners of the time.

Large colonies of microbes are physically visible and we as a conglomerated species have surely categorized them and have known about them since before humans were humans. Fact is, in the Middle Ages, or Medieval times, in Europe, the Catholic church reigned supreme and did everything in their power to discredit any science that went against the church's teachings and control over the populous; what do you think lead up to the Spanish Inquisition!? And if you attempt to go online to find the answer, good luck. Half the resources argue against the other half. One resource was ignorant enough to say herbal remedies are a hoax... which is total absurdity, where do you think big pharma gets most of its derived medications from!? I found nothing about Western European medieval knowledge of heart disease that directly translated to knowledge we currently have other than an ambiguous term for "blood infections". Even practices which first took place well over 10,000 years ago that are still practiced to this day were practiced throughout history for different reasons. Evidence shows cranial blood letting surgeries as far back as the paleolithic era. But in medieval times blood letting was commonly used to "release evil spirits", not to necessarily release vascular pressure, even though that's what they were ultimately doing. Western Europe wasn't the only civilization 500 years ago, and some other cultures most likely had knowledge the Europeans didn't, but in the setting the game is cast in, heart disease would've most likely been attributed to some sort of evil doing or evil forces working on the patient.

The exposition drop definitely deserves a little more subtlety. I found it a little jarring. Just names of people and places immediately being thrown at you but you just don’t care about (yet). For instance, the devs could introduce important characters as the game plays out rather than info dump everything all at once.

The intro seemed like the video was behind like a good 5 seconds or more (on the game's side) and when the video ended the audio stopped where it was. so thats why it cut off early.
