The game you are thinking of is Falling Sand. There were a lot of versions of it, but that was the original, with the many different things you could do. Such as making gunpowder then dropping a flame in it. Or using water and biomass to grow plants then burn the plants with a droplet of fire.

The fact that the burnt slag not getting processed and piling up is a bug and the creator said they are trying to fix it

It's probably from having the momentum stopped, happens to me a lot. you got too much burnt slag at once.

Instead of sorting the slag at the top a filter at the bottom whould have been better letting the slag pile up above. Then as its burned itd fall down onto a conveyor to get lifted to the dropper.

Also if you are to take the snow in order to freeze the water and then take that frozen water and turn it into more snow, buy a game mechanics, you can actually transport water in this game. In theory, I have not played it. I have not tested this out, but it seems like it moves like sand
