Good video showing the differences bud. With the clipping of the knuckles you may try exaggerating your wrist rotation a little bit. If the end of the handle is consistently pulling the rope then it should eliminate that issue. 🤙

Got the cheap ones (they seem to be rebranded everywhere) by accident, thought I was getting a weighted rope instead of the weighted handles. However, I modded the cheap ones to make the rope heavier and more responsive. At first I tried wrapping electrical tape around it a few times. Then tried embedding some medium thickness steel wire with the electrical tape. Still wasn't enough. Then I remembered I had some broken nail clippers lying around, so I used electrical tape to tie them to the rope. It works way better than it has a right to.

This comparison is an expensive rope vs cheap rope, which is not comparing apples to apples. You could find a weighted 1LB rope (not in the handle) on Amazon that would be more like the crossrope for under $20.00. Testing between those two would be a more appropriate comparison. I'm not trying to be negative or critical, I'm just saying this comparison video did not make sense for me. Never the less, thanks for making the video. :)

There are versions that have weight on the handle, but it's limited to .25lb. Also have cal, jump counter and timer. Still eventually going to a "crossrope" type. Just wish they had more competition cause the price is really high. Do heavier ropes make it so you can't do a bunch of tricks? I really enjoy doing them cause helps the time fly by.
@Krufessor_Rad
@Krufessor_Rad 3 жыл бұрын
In my experience the heavier ropes do limit your ability to trick, but they do provide a more intense workout session, so it depends on your needs or wants. It's not a bad idea to have a few ropes for your different needs when you train.

@davehunt540
@davehunt540 3 жыл бұрын
@@HeadCase55 Hard to give context through YT comments, but I'll give a shot. No one has gone out of the way to make it so you can't change the bearings. For the structural integrity of the design and the safety of the user, they are manufactured to be mounted as strongly as possible. What I was saying is there's no practical and safe way to do it, but we have a lifetime guarantee on the handles so ideally they won't need to be replaced. Also, we definitely haven't doubled the prices. No where near. But I'm sure you've seen all of the rising costs of materials, freight, etc etc - we're in the same boat as everyone else.
@HeadCase55
@HeadCase55 3 жыл бұрын
@@davehunt540 you're right sorry they haven't doubled. The price has increased while the quality has decreased though. Eg no longer using high speed ceramic bearings that are objectively better than the cheap steel ones now used. I mean you sell the get fit set on Tom Brady's website for $90 (compared to $250 on crossropes.) I understand the idea of supply and demand but damn you guys had the price right with $70. It was also kind of a rhetorical question. Its definitely so people buy new ones. There is a more serviceable way to safely secure the bearing than with a crimped nut.
@davehunt540
@davehunt540 3 жыл бұрын
@@HeadCase55 You're saying things that just aren't accurate: 1. price increased while quality decreased. Incorrect - quality has been increased on all components more than once in the past few years 2. the ceramic bearings did not perform better than the high quality steel bearings. they were much louder and didn't spin as well. it was a novel idea at the time, but they are better for skateboards, etc than for high performance ropes. 3. We don't sell anything on the TB12 website. We sell to TB12 and they set the price. Those models are 4 years old and if you select the product on the page you choose either the light ropes for $80 or the heavy ones for $120 on clearance down to $94.99. So the Get Fit is $175 discounted for 4 year old version if they have it in your size, not $90 and that's their call to sell at the price they need to 4. The last time price was at $70 was an older design that pre-dates the current connection mechanism and every component has been updated and improved since then which is the whole point, whether people want to buy the new ones or not, we're striving to make the best possible jumping experience 5. I'm always interested and open to product feedback.. there's been lots of developments and improvements through the years from customer inputs. But for labor processes, materials, safety, design, etc etc etc - the way we mount the bearing is the best way to do it. Why have a handle that allows customers a hassle like replacing the bearings when we provide a lifetime warranty and the handles and will send a replacement?

How long does the actual rope last for? Because I've only had mine for about 1 month now and I'm already seeing some signs of wear on the part of the rope that makes contact with the ground. I am jumping rope outdoors on pavers but is there anything in the middle of the rubber? What happens when it wears out completely?

I've had two sets for over a year now and they are perfectly fine, but I only use them in my gym on the rubber gym flooring so I don't know about using them on pavement. The rope has a wire running through the centre. I know this because my 1/2 lb white cross rope wore out to the point where I could see the wire after 6 weeks! People come at the "cost" of these ropes all wrong. Like kicking an inexpensive soccer ball in an open field, jumping rope is a convenient and frugal way to get and stay fit, and as such nearly any dollar store rope will suffice to get you started...but once you have advanced beyond the beginner stage of any athletic endeavor you will inevitably demand better and more advanced equipment. That is when the "cost" of high performance ropes are a bargain compared to gym memberships and expensive home cardio equipment such as ellipticals and air bikes, and that is not even factoring in the cost of travelling to gyms vs jumping rope at home...or anywhere.

My thought is if you want to get strong go lift weights If you want to get lean out & shape your body buy an average jump rope. There is no reason why someone should be jumping with a $130 2lb rope. I bin jumping rope for over 6 months & I'm a fancy speed a killer with it but never did I ever gave it one thought to be jumping with anything heavy 1bs-2lbs. Cross rope created 3 ropes all the way up to a 2lb rope. What will be their next product rope 3lbs-5lbs at $250-$300. 🤣

A dumb bell set costs a lot of money too. Cross ropes work upper body while conditioning idk what you’re talking about

I don't think I'll ever need the bigger handles. I'm 6'1" but do not have big hands. I imagine I'll be more in line with your wife. I wear medium sized gloves. Trying to decide what to buy right now to avoid regret due to sizing.

The smaller handles that come with the Get Lean set suck ass, the guy making this video is right about the Get Strong handles being way better. However, you don’t have to worry about sizing regret because they have a no questions asked 90 return policy in any condition

I bought a waited rope at dicks sporting goods and it was Nike brand I was happy but only the handles where weighted 😒
@Krufessor_Rad
@Krufessor_Rad 2 жыл бұрын
yeah, a lot of companies market "weighted" ropes that way, having weight in the handles don't really benefit you much. Maybe grip and maybe forearms, but not as much as a fully weighted rope.

The only real non gimmicky benefit of crossrope is the weighted rope. You can get the same benefit at a fraction of the cost in those muay thai ropes with tubes for ropes. You don't have to buy into the hype.

Thanks for mentioning an alternative to the Crossropes. I'd love to have one but don't want to spend the money right out of the gate (just starting with jumping rope) and had also seen people using a battle rope for a weighted alternative. That however, won't have handles. I will look into muay thai ropes as you mentioned. Please comment back if you happen to have one you'd recommend that'll provide a great upper body workout.

@@vkdeboe4930 I wouldnt recommend twins because those are expensive. I am currently using one without a brand with wooden handles and clear tubes as ropes. It is certainly not the most luxurious options but it wears you out. (I am comparing it against another Kettler rope I have with weighted handles). So my key idea is that weighted ropes probably are better than weighted handles but you don't have to pay an arm and leg for a super branded and advertised product. There are many alternatives out there that could whip you into shape! For my ropes I bought them at SGD 15 so maybe USD 22? Side point, I also don't buy into the argument that Cross ropes are that durable, I use my ropes on concrete for years and they haven't torn yet. On the other hand, you see lots of push from the Crossrope faithful recommending you only jump on their $160 mats to preserve it and telling you their rope snapped after 9 months.

@@davehunt540 an unsolicited suggestion, could you consider lowering prices in countries with lower income? Like for example, Netflix has different prices for different countries. The current prices of your ropes are very close to the average monthly income in my country. I don’t know if this made sense, but hopefully you read this comment. Thank you.

@@preciousjose Yes I definitely see every comment I get tagged in. Certainly have appreciation for Netflix's approach (and perhaps some envy for the flexibility they have on pricing for a digital product). It's not feasible for us at this time, but if we expand digital offerings and achieve great success like Netflix, their example is something I admire and would consider in the future!
