Hey Wonton good to see you again! Love the cover here, it looks military haha. The text block here is also one of the best but I must say I'm really loving my double-column currently! Also, I think everyone should have their favorite/standard translation of choice, but don't be afraid to mix it up and enjoy different translations as well. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. :)

I got mine too! 😊I got the ESV Heirloom Heritage in Prussian blue calfskin. I absolutely love it! I love how smooth and almost fuzzy or velvety (in a good way) the Prussian blue leather cover feels to touch. The Bible's two sides seem to flow out so smoothly - like a waterfall - when I hold it in my hands too. And the layout or design inside is simply beautiful. I love the font. I love the space between words. I love the space between lines. I love how much clean clear white space there is in the margins and elsewhere. I love how it can double as a reader's Bible since it has unobtrusive headings and minimal references to distract. Honestly, the Heritage is my favorite layout or design for the ESV. My only regret is I wonder what other versions of the Heritage are like and if they are as good as or better than the Prussian blue (e.g. your olive green, the Wellington leather). But that's a good problem to have! And I completely agree with you - I really wish other translations could get the Heritage treatment (e.g. KJV, NKJV, NASB, LSB, CSB, NIV, NLT), but I guess that's mainly up to Crossway since I assume the Heritage layout or design belongs to Crossway.

I love this edition in so many ways. It's Such a pleasant reader. But the "floppy" factor was key in choosing the green calfskin edition - not too much, not too little. Tim Wildsmith's comparison of the 3 editions from EB sold me on this one. Great review, Wonton!

This is a beautiful Bible! Thanks for going over all the details. I have the green goatskin NKJV topaz and love it, but if I could change one thing it’s that the topaz doesn’t use poetry typesetting, it’s just the same justified block of text that you get in the prose. I have been tempted by the quentel, but now that pre-orders for a NKJV Stridon are about to go up, I might consider grabbing that in this olive green calfskin.

i would prefer double column reading but the large font / clear medium typeface along with air in the leading, makes this appear an easy flow to each line and a perfect daily carry and personal size reader's Bible.

I don't like single column verse by verse, so an NKJV Stridon wouldn't be for me. Perhaps an NKJV Treveris would be up my alley.

How do you like this Bible in comparison to the Alpha? Not so much in color and material of cover but in design/layout/etc...

I find having both of them worth using. They compare well in that they both serve specific purposes well, one being a perfect every day carry (Alpha) and the other just being the all around perfect typesetting for readability (Heritage). I find them to be perfect companions. I will admit that the Heritage far exceeds the Alpha for me when it comes to my personal preference. Luckily I don't have to choose between the two.

20 minutes! My camera would have overheated 😂 yeah I think brown, gold or red ribbons may have been good. But super nice Bible overall!! Ah man, I’m trying to run my channel primarily from review copies now, and it’ll be awhile before Crossway is willing to send me premiums 😭😂

I'm still waiting to hear back from publishers to get my hands on review copies 😂 all my bibles have to be purchased at the moment, unfortunately. But I have a solid bible stash where my small group is held and many people get to choose a bible they'd like from it. It's a good deal.

I also agree with you on the NKJV but because I’m colour blind I really struggle with red letter Bibles so I lean more towards the ESV because of this.

@@privacyiskey83 the NKJV definitely needs way more black letter editions. Thomas Nelson is pretty set on their red letter obsession, sadly.
