Thanks for posting this. Excellent point about the elastic band in the middle, instead of the back. Also, the band should be relatively easy to replace.

Great review! But just a suggestion brother. If you’re gonna compare to other editions, you should open them both to the same passage and put em side by side. That’s the only way to truly see the differences. Apples to apples. :)

The problem with ALL Holman bibles, no matter how well they are sewn or what paper they are on, is, yes, their use of paper liners on everything except their handcrafted/goatskin bibles. Those paper liners rip FAST. Doesn’t matter if they are reinforced. They will rip all around the perimeter in no time. Man Holman just use vinyl. Charge an extra buck, and give us Bibles that can last a little while!

I like to read the NLT for it's easy language but I also like to use the ESV as my Synod uses it for all of their devotional materials, readings, and study material. If I had to choose just one I would go ESV for those reasons. I have heard good things about the CSB and I own a HCSB Bible I hope to get around to reading someday. Have a great day.

Leather has oils in it and when you crease the leather it causes the oils to squeeze out from the bend point. You could try buying some leather conditioner like Bick 4 as an affordable option to even out the oils.
@cameronmccray59632 ай бұрын
Conditioning the leather also keeps it healthy which will prevent cracking from dryness and ensure your bible cover lasts decades.

It's good to find someone with a similar mind. I love Moleskin Cahier series for many reasons including the ones you mentioned. Field Notes or TN inserts never worked for me. I use this exact cover for some of my Cahiers and I also use JJNUSA leather cover for pocket notebooks (also inexpensive compred to other options) that can hold two (three if you push) Cahiers.

Try the KJV 9 chapters per day OT. 9 chapters per day NT. Proverbs 1 per day, per day of the month. You'll read the entire OT in 90 days & You'll read the entire NT 3 times in 90 days. You'll read the book of proverbs 4 times in 90 days. This takes roughly 90 minutes per day, somtimes less, rarely more. Really great for knowledge, wisdom, & spiritual growth.

I have the Traveler's size version, it's so superior to the Traveler's Company brand which is so much more expensive. Agree with every point you made, and having multiple notebooks bound together, compartmentalized for different purposes, is a killer feature. Plus, the longer you use it and.. abuse (!) it, the better it looks..

This is a beautiful Bible! Thanks for going over all the details. I have the green goatskin NKJV topaz and love it, but if I could change one thing it’s that the topaz doesn’t use poetry typesetting, it’s just the same justified block of text that you get in the prose. I have been tempted by the quentel, but now that pre-orders for a NKJV Stridon are about to go up, I might consider grabbing that in this olive green calfskin.
