My favourite part of bike cleaning is once it looks perfect taking it for a blast.. Where more often than not, within about 30 seconds, a swarm of about 1,000 or so flies decide that they'd prefer to be squished all over my pride and joy rather than doing fly stuff. Usually within about 10 minutes the seagull heard in this video at 4:35 has tracked me down and launched a couple of his bike-seeking missiles all over it!! I've found that paraffin works just as well as the commercial chain cleaners (if not better) and is cheap as chips by comparison. Follow that with a thin coat of chain wax and Bob's your uncle.

Nicely done, it's worth rubbing a bit of ACF-50 over any parts that could rust for extra protection, great stuff. Obviously stainless steel and plastics won't need any, you can mask the disks and calipers and tyres to do nuts bolts and forks. It's good on electrical connections including battery terminals too.

More tips: 1) Use something to prevent a lot of water going in the exhaust 2) Cover clocks. 3) Don't spray chain cleaner directly on the chain, cause it will break down the grease behind the orings. Prefer to apply on a rug and wipe it clean 4) Afterwards lubricate the usual bits, and also lube suspension adjusters cause they tend to cease
@codenamenel5 жыл бұрын
5) When re-lubing the chain, spray the inside of the chain, that way Centrifugal force pushes the lube into the chain when you ride, Spraying the outside makes it fling off

For future reference... when re-lubing the chain, you lube the inside, not the outside as you did in the video. Centrifugal force will push the lube to the outside of the chain giving it full coverage and there will be less fling onto the back wheel.

Hi, Please can you do a video of how to properly clean car glass, inside and out, without leaving streaks or fluffy bits off of the microfibre cloth. And what products and cloths to use? Many thanks, Ps, love the vids 😀 Shaun.
@CroIntr00X6 жыл бұрын
simple as this 1. low pile microfiber for glass (dedicated for glass only) 2. small bucket, warm/hot water and few drops of dishwash soap 3. normal microfiber towel 4. spray bottle with clean water order: damp 3 into 2, wipe glass, spray glass with 4, and buff with 1 Result: no nicotine, no streaks, no fluffy bits, fast, easy, cost effective and most important safe to all glass including tints. Working with detailing cars for over 10 years. Glass cleaners often leaving coating over glass, looks ugly on sun, you can spot smudges, nicotine and dirt sticks to it lovely. That's why im never using it for years. They are often not strong or too strong which is not good either. Dish soap with hot water is just perfect to dislodge caked dirt, also to remove any dirt "film" on your glass, while low pile microfiber cloth buffs it to "no glass" effect. Regards

I personally am never worried about water and my electronics. Bikes get ridden in the rain on expressways, 30-40 mph roads, and get wet all the time. If they can handle rain at 30-40 mph blasting it, not to mention highway speeds on a summer downpour day, they can handle a good washing.

What do you recommend as a degreaser, as many I have looked at will mark/tarnish alloy and anodised surfaces, bear aluminium is particularly bad for this, even if motorcycle Muck Off is left on a second to long. I have in the past used that WD40 Chain clean but found it tarnish alloy really badly.

@CroIntr00X6 жыл бұрын
then don't use pressure washer, use hose..since pressure is not needed or mandatory...that way you wont risk peel more clear coat off your car...hose, 2 bucket method and good to go, you'll clean it just fine...pressure is mostly to knock off chunks of dirt without touching but after must go hand wash anyways. To make it safe as possible, wash in shade/late afternoon on cold bodywork, use decent ph neutral shampoo (not acidic ones, not degreasers).
@TheBPJo5 жыл бұрын
3:30 I would not recommend lubing the chain like that. First of all apply the chain lube from the inside (under the swing arm) and protect the tyre, exhaust etc. with a piece of cardboard. Secondly you want to lube between the lugs of the chain, because thats where the rubber rings are sitting. There is no need to lube the rolls. Don't apply too much lube and remove excessive product with an old towel. That way the chain will attract less dirt and stay clean longer (and also the spray onto the rear wheel is reduced significantly).
@CarCleaningGuru5 жыл бұрын

My 636 has a course powder coat on the frame and swing arm. I used a cheap detail brush with soapy water on spots that are particularly stubborn. I clean the bike as I would let it dry and examine the problematic spots and then I snow foam and go a scrubbin. For the spots that the detail brushes don't remove I use a brush with stuffer bristles.
