Just stumbled across your channel and I love your videos. I ordered a few house plants a few weeks ago and among them were Calatheas and this little Croton. I admit I overlooked it at first, especially next to the Calatheas that require so much attention. But I fell in love with it now, because it's so easy to take care of and the new leaves are so pretty. ♥️ It's sitting in my west-facing window and gets direct sunlight from 2-6:30 pm and it seems to love it. It's pushing out new leaves every few days

Hi I’m a new beginner. I never tried my luck with plants. I bought this crouton Petra in march this year, 110 cm tall. I placed her in westfacing window. She is thriving. I’m so surprised. In april she started getting 35 new leaves at the same time AND flowers. Really crazy. Now she is doing it all all over again. 28 new leaves AND flowers again. Great Channel. Michael from 🇩🇰

Good video Lucia. I love Croton and also Cordyline Two of the most attractive and stunning plants IMO. I live in an apartment and I have croton in pots on the balcony. I keep them in indirect sun and water them every two to three days, but not too much. Sometimes I put them in direct sun for an hour after watering. This strategy seems to work well, same with cordyline. I like your channel, your videos are concise and to the point. I m thinking about starting my own horticulture channel, so good to see your content.

BTW, ypu are right that these plants are more s suitable for a place with a bit of humidity, a sub tropical environment like Brisbane, Australia is perfect for them. In winter though I will bring them indoors though, as it drops below 15 c here in winter, down to about 7 c minimum on average.

I found my croton sitting on top of a drink fridge at Walmart being neglected. I’m not really a plant person, but idk! I’ve bonded to her! So I just had to bring her home. Her name is Kaida, I have no idea how to take care of her, but I’ve been researching and watching videos since I got her. Lol thanks for the info!

All the leaves of my croton have fallen this winter.. now it is spring and i still cannot see any signal of a new leaf, but the roots are ok.. does usually take it long to grow back?
@PlantsandLucia3 жыл бұрын
Hi! It depends on the conditions you have for your croton. How much light is it getting? Light is very important for these.
@danielasalfate76183 жыл бұрын
@@PlantsandLucia thank you for your reply. My croton is out at the balcony. It gets light and sun every day. In Portugal it has been around 16-22 degrees lately because it is spring, but my croton seems to be dead kkkk. ❤

how would it deal with a watering glass bulb? i have a thing to either watering too little or too much so i thought maybe that would control the watering properly.. alsio I have a premium soil mix with both clay pebbles and perlite, high drainage, i use it for my ZZ plants, sansevieras and peace lillies - do u think it would like it?
@PlantsandLucia4 жыл бұрын
This is a great question! I haven't tried ther watering glass bulb yet.. but I think that if it is used properly, it should be fine... I guess you can try it and let us know how it goes.. At least for mine, checking with my finger and useing the bottom watering method really has worked for her. Hello, how do you know when to repot?
@PlantsandLucia3 жыл бұрын
Hi! This is a great question and I will make a video about it for you guys :-) I know that my plant needs to be repotted when I see that the roots are coming out of the drainage holes, and growing around the potting mix. You may also notice that they get thristy more often but the soil may be wet. You can send me a picture of yours on IG and we can figure it out 😊

Sad to repot that as soon as I got my croton, Christina, she started to have trouble. In a matter of maybe two hours in the car, the leaves were dying. She is in a west facing window now and I water her every other day about one cup. She has lost almost all of the new leaves in less than one week. What can I do to help her? Any help will be great. 😞
@michaelamstrup19923 жыл бұрын
Hi I’m new in this and got my first crouton in march this year. She is thriving though, doing very well. She has to be moist all the time, during her growth period I’m watering her almost daily. Important: NO DRAFT. humidity 40-60, fertilizer (organic) once a week, spray her with water if it’s hot outside, 1-2 hours direct sunlight at the end of the day to maintain her beautiful colours, much light. Try to experiment a little bit and see how she reacts. I did so and I knew absolutly nothing about croutons when I first got her. Good luck. Michael/🇩🇰

Lucia.... I guess I've always heard that they like a lot of sun and that's one of the reasons why I've had mine outside but it only gets Morning Sun and it's in shade the rest of the day but I do mist it often because I thought that it liked its leaves wet and humidity. I guess it's no wonder I've not had great luck with Crotons. 🤷♂️🤦♂️🤣
