BD's brilliant 2014 "Felliniesque" featured an homage to Fellini's chaotic film sets, including actors who show up on set without their pants-- a metaphor for the absurdity of everyday life and the artist's farcical quest to find meaning. The sprawling show was replete with circus performers, dancing show girls with tambourines, soaring 30-foot perfectly-timed rifle tosses in a three ring circus, and a clown, much like Fellini himself, who tries to commit suicide by hobbling off a ledge being continually extended as he approaches, but he is saved only by a mysterious woman in black with an umbrella. At the end of Felliniesque, Fellini's chair remains empty- a Humanist message that there is no deity in the sky who's going to redeem us. We only have the clowns in our own lives to help us muddle through. That's some pretty heavy shit. This is the kind of show that vaults drum corps to the realm of true depth and meaning, leaving other youth activities like cheerleading, symphonies and sports behind in the dust. This was drum corps's finest hour and proof that judges reward depth of concept, above all else.

@Ryandal Gilmore weak af excuse. They’re pretty well funded. They weren’t quite ready for a title in ‘14. Great and entertaining program but not on a level with Felliniesque. ‘15 was a very ambitious program and stepping stone, and it prepared them for the ‘16 title. They simply were a couple rungs on the ladder from the top. The difference between a champion and simply top 3 can be remarkably large.

@Ryandal Gilmore sort of, you don’t get points, it’s that you don’t lose points. If you can recover then there’s no affect to the show, thus no reason to take away points. If you don’t, then someone might drip and fall over some equipment if you dropped it. That affects the show this deducting points
