I love Edna's face when Crowded House sing to her! Dame Edna's a barrel of laughs and Crowded House are one of those few bands/artists that have a place in my heart. I always feel nostalgic when I hear their music, they're sort of magic/timeless and I'm stoked that they're kiwis and aussies

Is this the definition of what television at its best can be? A host who knows when to sit back and let her ‘talent’ display just that. Especially love that we get to see Crowded House setting up before each song. Bring back LIVE tv!

As an Aussie of a certain age (61), this brought back great memories of live shows from long ago. Crowded House had us dancing, Dame Edna had us laughing. And all made Aussies proud. Though a few from Crowded House were Kiwis, we adopted them as our own, but Paul and Dame Edna were from my hometown of Melbourne, Edna (but not Barry) from the suburb of Moonee Ponds where as a kid I was dragged through shops by Mum and Dad and where, for a few years in my 40s, I worked at Murdoch’s Foxtel. Barry Humphries, Paul Hester and my parents (and Joan) were all still alive then, now all gone. I don’t know what my folks thought of the Crowdies but they loved Dame Edna. We went to many of Humphries’ live shows. More memories, tears of laughter replaced by tears of sorrow. Well, still some laughs. Thanks for uploading this it was very nice of you, as it was of acerbic Edna not to ask Joan why her band played the British “Land of Hope and Glory” as she entered. “Advance Australia Fair” (or even “Down Under”) would’ve been more appropriate! RIP Barry, Hessie. Joan and Avril & Arthur (my mum and dad)❤

I saw the last live show CH did before they left Australia to tour with Bruce Hornsby and the range. It was the Najee fashion awards at the Sidney Myer music bowl in Melbourne. Nicks mum was in the audience. Neil sang Throw your legs around me. Nicks brother Mark was the lead singer in Hunters and collectors. He wrote the song Throw your arms around me. That was in 87

How outstanding was the second song!! And the boys cracking up at how far Edna's quips go over the local's heads. And the inappropriate (for Aussie sensibilities) ad at the end of the first set for Sinus tablets instead of congratulating the great firsts!!and the word "Cocaine" being mentioned as a cure for blocked sinuses!

@@zapkvr good for you. You know you're not the only one that has seen live gigs. My friends and I were regulars at the Espy, Corner Hotel, Punters Club, The Evelyn and others. So have a heart, and never sum someone up on this rather cold medium.

@@zapkvr I watched this video again, by chance. Then I saw your reply once more. You didn't even have the guts to reply. This confirms, for me, how much of an idiot you are. This includes witnessing Hunters and Collectors live.

I was never sure who played the keyboards on their songs, but now I know and feel pretty dumb not "twigging" that it was none other than Eddie Raynor the brilliant Split Enz keyboardist. Just makes me love the band even more, Eddie was a bit of a genius and his playing here is great.

Eddie played Keys for them the first 2 or 3 years, live. Mitchell Froom played on the first 2 records. Tim Finn and Rayner played on Woodface. They then hired Mark Hart.
