My #1 favorite song in every way, by Crowded House. Thank you so much. Neil is one of the absolute bests when it comes to sheer vocal talent. I admire his writing talents. However, his voice alone was what first drew me in and made me a passionate fan and kept me listening for decades.

So glad you've cracked open some Crowded House. They have a very deep catalog that certainly deserves investigating. Others will tell you you must listen to Don't Dream It's Over and they're right. But, there are many other great ones. Pineapple Head Hole In The River Distant Sun Catherine Wheels Better get started.

At the " farewell to the world" concert this song resounded through sydney and it was the best it has ever sounded. We, the crowd, sang the last line. One of my favourite memories. Xx

Before Crowded House Neil Finn and his brother Tim were in a great new wave band called Split Enz. Currently Neil is a member of Fleetwood Mac. Neil and Tim have also recorded as The Finn Brothers.

First and foremost, I'm a Beatles fan, totally and forever. But when I listened to the songs of Crowded House, I couldn't stop listening. In many ways, they were the continuation of the Beatles. You can hear the influence. Their catalog of songs is as varied and complete as the Fab Four. Sadly, they never got the recognition they so justly deserved.

My favorite singer of all time- George Michael. Favorite band- Crowded House. I remember buying my first cassette of theirs in 1988 and have been in love with Neil Finn’s voice and songwriting ever since. Highly underrated band. You must do Don’t Dream it’s Over! Paul McCartney said he wished he’d written that song. Still relevant all these years later.

You should check out 'Xanadu' with Olivia Newton John singing, and Electric Light Orchestra as the backing band. It's very dreamy, and amazing. Finn now plays guitar for Fleetwood Mac.

Something very sad and tragic to add is that their drummer Paul Hester committed suicide in 2005. In broad daylight at a busy park with lots of dog walkers atound he hung himself from a tree using his dog lead. He was a really funny outgoing high energy and loveable guy. Anyone who is interested, I'll paste a link of one of Paul's songs (him singing and playing the guitar)

Every time I hear this song I think of Neil’s performance of this at the ARIA’S (Australia Recording Industry Awards), founding member and friend Paul Hester and recently committed suicide. I believe that the this song is from the female's perspective. Neil Finn (singer-songwriter) is out on the road touring in a band while his wife is home alone. She wants him home as there is long stretches of no communication (pre-cell phone era song) and / or limited togetherness. Anyhow, that's what I get from it.

Perhaps someone wrote something similar further down. As far as I understand it, Better be home soon is a tribute to former Crowded House drummer Paul Hester who took his own life in 2005 at the age of 46 approximately 10 after leaving Crowded House.
