I didn't think i would find the Pharaoh Edition for Ra necessary either until I played that version with my friends who have a copy. I changed my mind pretty quick after that, but I respect your willpower!

Backing RA because it's a great game, and I think the expansion will make it more exciting for new players until they develop that sense of tile value. And thanks for covering Hyve. I really like that the publisher is trying to cut their crowdfunding teeth on PnP games before venturing into the logistical headache of a physical game.

Ra is interesting, but I am not sure what edition would be best.... I will only buy it once... 1. the base has smallest environment footprint, is cheapest and has colored point tiles, 2. the wooden is more environment friendly than the acrylic, and probably last time they will print it on wood, however the money in metal is bad as not colored and the bag, while it seems to have better quality as it can stand by itself, it seems to be too big for some people making it complicated at the table... 3. the acrylic seem the most durable, regarding the touch as they can be washed, howerit has the pictures also printed on with heating process, so it may also rub of with time I guess? (anyone has acrylic tokens with prints? I read in one BGG forum about the Quacklingburgh acrylic tokens where some people were not happy the print came of...)

@@gamesmusic2104 yeah the wooden one is basically double the box size, which made me more inclined to just stick with my base copy, even if the cardboard tiles do have a bit of wear on them.

I have the acrylic Geek Up bits for Quacks and haven't noticed any wear from the prints. Probably played the game about 40-50 times in the past 3-4 years. Can't say if the prints will last beyond that yet. I've read that the prints rubbing off from some copies may have been due to over exposure from hand sanitizers during the pandemic. It's a tough choice weighing the different options regarding RA. Each version has their own merits and drawbacks so it depends on your priorities. The standard retail version is already great on its own and I definitely recommend this one if someone has never played or is on the fence about the game in general. The only negative of the first printing though if you buy used is that there's a noticeable lid lift when you store the tiles in the cloth bag. This should be fixed in the next printing though. Also, for my preference the standard bag is a little small to shuffle as vigorously as I would like. As for myself, I know that I enjoy the tactile experience from boardgames and I very much enjoy this game and want to keep it in my collection for years to come. I like the consistency of the wooden aesthetic, the bigger bag to hear the wooden clanking while shuffling, and the tactile experience of grabbing and stacking the thicker wooden tiles from the auction board using one hand.

Yup, same for me thank goodness, though I did back Moon Bunny which finishes next week I believe. I also got in Deep Shelf over the weekend and it was literally the fastest I have ever played a KS game after it delivered. Had so much fun with it that I think it satisfied my new game craving for a bit.
