I wish they'd do these stories BEFORE these things happen. When the news covers it, it's usually too late.

Nothing to see before it happens, also there'd be HUGE crowds if they shout out ahead time.

We were at Lake Mead (Las Vegas), today and were able to watch as it rose, starting at 4:30pm'ish, and celebrating our Baby Girl's 1 month coming into our world! To even think that we had no idea what the Moon's event was, other than how mesmerized we were on how bright, up close, and beautiful is was! WOW! Just WOW!

@THE.MICHAEL.ANGELO 🌕 🕯🎉 What a special way to celebrate your Baby Girl's 1 Month Day! Congratulations!!! A beautiful story to remember & share in the years to come; how the moon paused, just for her. (You might enjoy reading her the book: "Good Night Moon". 📖🌕🎉)

@@KA-od5mw Thank you so much! 🥰🙏 It truly was a special and magical moment for us. I took pictures and recorded video of the Moon upon rising as well. Also, thank you for recommending the book. Can you tell me who the Author is? I looked up the title and there was one by Margaret Wise Brown. It's a popular and even an adorable book. Could that be it?

@THE.MICHAEL.ANGELO 🌜📚 Yes, that's the author! It's a sweet book. Mine loved it, & it became a bedtime favorite when they were little. Keep on creating all those special memories (like another good book; Dr. Seuss' "Oh, the Places You'll Go". ) Happy reading! And, again, CONGRATULATIONS❣🎉🌛

@@KA-od5mw Thank you! And yes, we're huge on Dr. Seuss books. My oldest is 12 and he's even taken it upon himself to read to his younger Sibs! It's so adorable. Confession...I fell asleep to him reading to them. He put ME to sleep. 🥰🤣🥰❤️💤

Well Ive noticed the past couple of nights its been big, full and bright. Blocking out a lot of stars. And its been flanked by a couple of very large stars or planets. The one on the left side is red and the one on the right side is blue. It rose here at around 4:45 ish pm. As the sun was setting pretty much directly 180 degrees polar opposite of the moon. But to me its just another day. Im waiting for it to not be so bright so I can see the stars again. I live out here in the near pitch black desert so I can see a LOT just with the naked eye.

It is in it's most Northerly position, not it's closest. It appears bigger when it's orbit comes closer to Earth, not further.

@sparkysmalarkey although it certainly was beautiful, bright , and big just as it rose into view from below the horizon, for those of us lucky enough to have good weather to see it, anyway. However the main event that gives it the name "still moon" is when it ascends to its maximum height, it seems to pause in its path across the sky because it's so far North and is at the maximum angle from our equator. That is the 18+ year cycle event. I noticed, this morning that the sun rose directly across from the still hanging moon, and for a while they faced each other at the same level.
