Being proud of a part of your heritage is not anything to be ashamed of. Proud to see people finally getting up off their butts and doing something. As Americans which they more than likely are given the gravity of the situation it is their right to voice their grievances. I would expect for any American to do the same. Do not relent.

When "ancestors" set foot upon these soils, there were NO immigration laws. When this country was formed, immigration laws were established. This country is NOT their home; their home is where they came from and where they hold their allegiance. What's your stance on male infant/adolescent circumcision? European, Asian, Mexican and Native Americans did NOT circumcise their sons -- yet, here were are on American soils and, despite past culture, [we] unnecessarily circumcise our sons without their consent and permanently deprive them of their body autonomy and genital integrity.

@@rosemarie1182 A country of LEGAL immigrants, yes. Storming the border is an invasion. Different.
@shadowfox94903 күн бұрын
I've never once had a stranger just waltz into my home and I've lived in the valley for ~30 years. Don't give in to the fear mongering the racists use to weaponize it against you and other people to drive wedges between us all. Furthermore, undocumented doesn't mean illegal. Though their media like to swap freely between the two and conflate them. LEGALLY you can be here while undocumented during the whole 5-7 year immigration process which costs around $8,000-12,000 to do. Meanwhile, people have to eat, and pay rent, buy medicine, basic necessities. Some immigrants are undocumented simply because the government hasn't sent them their official papers /IDs yet, but are cleared to be here. The system is messy, unbearably slow, and the situation nuanced. A blanket sentiment of "immigrant = bad" and "all immigrants are illegal" opens the door to grave injustices we all should have learned already from our history. Does the immigration system need a top down update, absolutely. Do we need to shove all immigrants legal or not into inhumane conditions, or willfully put them in situations that facilitate their deaths? No. Absolutely not. And I know they're SAYING "It's just the ILLEGAL immigrants and criminals," but in actuality, it's not. 200 or so CHILDREN were on one of those planes, many BORN here and have birthright citizenship something WE ALL are blessed to have. They're neither illegal nor violent criminals. Just children being traumatized. There's reports of several American citizens being caught in the drag nets. "Well, they were discovered and let go, right?" They shouldn't have been rounded up to begin with and treated inhumanely or with such indignity. Period. There's witnesses saying how people will say "I'm an American. I have my papers," and ICE saying "I don't care." Military Veterans, who get the short end of the stick ALL THE TIME and used as political props (cared about only when someones running for something, but are living on the streets, homeless, or in dire need of medical assistance, but only receive the worst level of care and virtually no medical coverage) are ALSO being put through this! American citizens who happened to be brown were rounded up and terrified that they were going to get sent abroad with everyone else simply because ICE/Officers overheard them speaking fucking Spanish. With how poorly they're handling this, and so many problems already made known (which means there's likely many more that happened and still unknown to us because they can't reach out), people have a right to be angry, to protest, and demand a better way to do this. NONE of them are saying illegal people shouldn't be held accountable for breaking the law. But we have due process for that and basic human rights afforded to everyone as decent human beings. We can address immigration reform humanely, that's what's being demanded. And many administrations have tried, both parties have, and both parties have failed or stone walled the other for various stupid reasons or another. And the data sheets show that both parties R & D average to about the same in how many they've deported, including T's first term. And B's term deported more than T's first term. And O deported more than both of them. The truth of the matter is the 2 party system caters to the extremes of either side of the spectrum and doesn't work for or represent the majority of the population. Just their rich donors that pay for their campaigns. Yet all we're given are 2 usually piss poor options. This needs to change as well. Because you'll discover that the majority of people, yes including Dems, want a strong secure border and only legal immigration, but every time reform is presented it's shot down in the Congress or House by "The Reds/The Blues," but really it's because the privatized prison system benefits financially from continued problems, and they donate to the politician that will lobby for *their* interests, not ours as a Nation. And one striking example of irrational, illogical, and detrimental to our country block of such reform was the Bipartisan landmark Immigration reform bill that was sooo close to passing and would have done our country and our people so much good and kept us safe, was blocked because T called around the Reps and told them to block it because, "immigration issues would be great for me to run on." Yes, he put our safety and security at risk, put our citizens' and the lives of countless people at risk, just so he could campaign on it, and banked on his basis' fear and hatred, their frustration with unemployment (Do any of us want to work in the farm fields for 10 hours a day for less than minimum wage and no benefits?), and the inability to pay for food/home etc (wages aren't rising b/c corporate lobbying and donors to politicians, who in turn block those bill proposals to the benefit of the corps and not The People). And that fact is deplorable in my opinion. The People should come first, and that's STILL NOT happening. Everything is going up in cost, in taxes, the stock market is crashing, our programs have lost government funding, and the list just keeps growing. We need to stand together and demand the POLICIES WE WANT are what is done, not what the corporate elite want. There's reasons why we all hate the rich. They don't care about anyone else but themselves and keep stealing from us. So, why are they in our government and running things? And instead of us focusing on that, and ensuring all our needs are met as a nation, they've got half of us preoccupied with distractions.

Definitely Battle Born. If you haven’t picked a history book you should. The reason NV is the Battle Born State is they helped Lincoln (the union) win the civil war.NV became a state at not the best time but unified the west. Even though they were far away from the battlefront they still sent regiments. There is nothing soft about Nevada.
@THE.MICHAEL.ANGELO7 күн бұрын
@@rosemarie1182 People site the history of how Nevada came to be the "Battle Born," state but make no mistake that the modern day people of Nevada translate it to being strong and non-tolerant to anyone who breaks our country's laws. More than ever, the "Battle Born," state IS becoming soft, especially when allowing people to break the laws. I do love the history though. I already knew the history of how NV awesomely helped President Lincoln with the Civil War.

@@THE.MICHAEL.ANGELO "They're SOFT." So, you don't even live in Nevada to even know. And your info says, "Love, Aloha, Unity, and Blessings." How are you also not considered soft? Especially, considering that's the same things the protesters are actually putting into practice and not just words. They're actively fighting for their family, love fueling their efforts, uniting together to do so... So weird, that disconnect. As if you wouldn't fight for yours if you felt there was a threat to them and their lives. Or if there was an injustice levied against them, or an unfair law or inhumane execution of that law. Also, I feel that's not very Aloha or Komo mai of you, brother.
@THE.MICHAEL.ANGELO2 күн бұрын
@ I'm currently living in Las Vegas, a.k.a. "The 9th Island," Fam. Been here for 9 years now. I've literally seen a huge difference from when we first moved here up until now and when I say, "soft," it's soft, that is, up until this past week on the Strip, however, there's still a strong existence, and residual presence of it and it's clearly demonstrated by the protestors. People can't, and/ or aren't willing to do anything about it. Over the weekend, there were several attempts at burning our American Flag at the protest, and no one in the "Battle Born," state was willing to do a darn thing except for the camera guy. And yes, I'm definitely all about Aloha, Unity and Blessings and there's nothing wrong with at least promoting and encouraging that first and foremost, but if you've been to Hawai'i and lived and grew up there as I have, you'll also know that the Aloha and Love we live by are also backed by power and a very strong sense and level of strength whereas, when the Aloha and love are threatened, we will fight, like animals trapped in a corner and the illegal immigration has truly back all of us "AMERICANS," up in a corner, and we got tired of it, but that fight can only go as far, especially when the rest of America is full of nothing but soft and emotional people that think that America's constitutional laws and even origins of war is too much for them to handle. America really needs to be strong, hard and in bringing back true warriors who are ready to fight for America's safety and the very laws that became the foundation of greatness.
