Crown moulding makes a great decorative accent for your home and helps you save money too. In this video, we show you how to install crown moulding and how to add LED lights to complete your home improvement project. Here are the coving installation steps prepared by Homemerce.com
How to install XPS & Plaster-coated covings (EPS)
✅Step 1️: Draw a line on the applicable surface indicating the desired position of the coving
✅Step 2: Cut the covings to the required length. The XPS and EPS moldings are easy for cutting by knife or by saw using a mitre box, manual or electric mitre saw. We can also supply you with pre-made internal and external corners.
✅Step 3: Apply adhesives evenly to the back of the coving. Use any solvent-free adhesives for multipurpose jobs (e.g. Everbuild Coving Adhesive or Nonsense 11665502)
✅Step 4: For best results apply adhesive to the joining parts. Any gaps can be filled with acrylic caulk or filler. Our XPS material is suitable for sanding with high grit (+120 grit) sandpaper if needed.
✅Step 5: Paint the covings with any emulsion / water-based paint. We recommend 2 or 3 coats to get the perfect finish.
✅Step 6: Enjoy the finished project. You can also install LED strips. Covings coated in plaster do not need any extra steps to install LED lights. Simply attach LED strips.

💡How to install LED strips
➡️Directly to the back of the coving. If you have chosen the XPS covings we recommend painting the coving (outside and inside except the part that attaches to the wall) with two coats of emulsion, water-based paint before montage on the wall or ceiling. When the product is fixed, fill all gaps with acrylic caulk or filler. At this point, we recommend applying the last coats of paint.
➡️On aluminum/non-transparent tape (applied to the non-visible side of the coving that will have LED installed). Applies only if you’ve chosen XPS covings. You can use any aluminum tape available online (eBay or Amazon) or in any DIY store like Screwfix or B&Q. It is easier to stick the aluminum tape on a surface that is already painted.
➡️Inside aluminum, metal, or plastic channel
