I was told by a friend they were parked at the Vista House one day, awhile back, with similar winds, when they saw a car pull up to park with the rear of the car toward the wind. Before they could do anything about it, someone opened the car door, the wind pulled the door out of their hand, flattened it, ruined the hinges so they couldn’t shut it again.😮

Just on any old day, in and near the gorge, a door can be ripped away from your hand. I have learned to not park near a car when it is windy here. I haven't heard of it ruining the hinges but I try not to get myself in that situation.

Whoa! Good warning. On the live stream that day a car drove by with no hood. I went back and watched it pull in but I couldn’t tell if the hood was missing already and I didn’t see it fly off when it was circling the vista house

I have got to hand it to you for your dedication. I had gone up the Chilliwack river to do some birding, when I finally found one, my camera had frozen.

Wowsers, Boss, I watched the entire livestream and after all of that, you were able to give us another Snyder Productions video; finished, polished with music. The storm was epic by itself, in many ways like the Mission Street bridge last year. But the cuts and splicing was just you plus minimal music. Not much music would fit a storm such as that. Watch the finger. If it’s broken, keyboard work can become very difficult. Again ideas for giveaway; a storm chase with you. Outstanding presentation, nature at her finest. ❤❤❤

Very interesting day, thank you Michael. I always wondered what Crown Point was like when we get these cold east winds.

Other than an occasional wind storm, I’ve always said there’s no wind here. Except for an Aug. trip to Ocean Shores & Cannon Beach many yrs ago. This is a big NOPE for me. 😅

I am shocked that they didn't close the road to Vista House. It is brutal up there in the winter at the best of times. The east coast has Mt. Washington, we have Crown Point. It's been very cold and windy here. Waiting for round 2 tomorrow.

Was that the most extreme conditions you’ve ever experienced storm chasing the PNW? Seems hard to beat. Also congrats on 60k! Getting to that 💯 slowly but surely!

I've been to this lookout point in 2019. I had no idea such violent winds often assail this location. Clearly, these are Hurricane level winds.
