when Finland used to be a powerhouse in all pageants. This is the last Grand slam crown that Finland won. Last placement in Miss Universe was back in 1996 placing 2 runner-up to Miss Venezuela Alicia Machado. in resume , 2 MU crowns, 3 first runner-up and 5 second runner-up

The previous Miss Universe 1974, Amparo Muñoz from Spain, could not crown her successor because she had resigned 6 months ago. The one who should have crowned Miss Finland was Miss Universe 1973, Margarita Moran from Philippines. But the one who crowned Ann Marie Pohtamo was Miss Universe 1972, Kerry Ann Wells from Australia. What a confusion, I know.
