Bloody hell this stopped my heart in the live stream earlier, watching the flashes and then shutoff, thought something terrible had/was about to happen

+Brent Smith I know! I thought it was going to go the way of the Antares

Did the abort sequence on the left one fail, or is the right one the only one aborting?
@AmbientMorality8 жыл бұрын
+Papermage11 The left video is a nominal launch (no abort, successful or unsuccessful). Left video is also Falcon 9 v1.1, while the right video is Full Performance Enhanced Upgraded Falcon 9 v1.2 Upgrade Full Thrust Block 2. I forgot to include in the description that both launches are sped up by a factor of 0.25 (slowed down by 4).

+Papermage11 Oh, I just realized I recognize your username. Hi! By the way, next launch attempt is on Friday at 3:35pm (6:35pm eastern time) though unfortunately I'll be missing it due to robotics

why did you use crs 4 and not any other ones
@AmbientMorality8 жыл бұрын
+Joshua Barosin CRS-4 had a similar camera angle. I would have preferred to use another launch, but only CRS-4 and TurkmenAlem52E/MonacoSAT used that camera angle, with the Turkmenistan one far too zoomed-in compared to the CRS-4 clip. A comparison I'd love to see, though they don't have any footage from, would be the SES-8 launch abort.

Ambient Morality oh, don't remember to back then. Im getting scared though, I have a feeling its going to fail, I hate to say it, but, you just dont see a rocket launch after three scrubs and have it be sucsessful

Joshua Barosin OG2 Mission 1 was far worse, with multiple failures during the static fire and actual attempts

now I get why they use the water cannons
@dermotos8 жыл бұрын
+Paul Gemperlein They're actually used to reduce the sound from the rockets "exploding", as otherwise the acoustic energy reflects off the ground and back into the rocket, and can potentially damage it.

+Dermot O Sullivan dang then I wish they wouldn't use them

You would want a rocket to be damaged upon launch?
