Jordan Keeler it's an ABC Drama series that has a lot of dark themes so I would recommend watching it with kids who are a little older since it's not all kid friendly but it's still really good since it's my favorite tv show

Added to the fact that her persona is so devilish, I think what's so terrifying about her character is that she is so HUMAN. There's no magic spells or wicked contracts, just a truly evil hearted woman. Thus, making it terrifying for viewers because people like her could actually be real and the fact that Roger and Anita actually knew this person and quite well. No, they didn't really trust her but they didn't distrust her so much they refused Cruella in their house.

I looked up both women. Nothing on Nancy Greenwell other than a Facebook page, links to people with the same name or the same last name, and Broadway entertainment. Tallulah Bankhead was born in 1902, so any pictures of her young would've been in black and white, she loved wearing furs, and she smoked.

Actually, in Once Upon A Time (a series that usually gives a Disney villain a tragic backstory and often they become good) as a child she poisoned all of her mother's husbands (her mother bred Dalmatians) and she was an all around psychopath since a child. She even did kill her mother's dalmatians after commanding them to kill her mother with magic. My point is...even OUAT, a ABC show dedicated to giving disney villains sympathy, couldn't even feel pity for Cruella. They just made her a cold villain, which proves how evil she truly is. Awesome video!

Eremikashipper 4ever I remember they made an episode about her past in the 101 Dalmatians animated series. It was that episode that resembled the Christmas Carol story... Well, there they showed that she always wanted a Dalmatian up puppy for Christmas and her family to be there. She was kinda crazy then too. So at Christmas she was alone with her nanny. So when she opened the packet, she expected to see a puppy, but she got something else instead. That kept on for years and years. So eventually she connected her parents' absence with the fact that she never got a puppy. That's why now she wants many of them to make a fur coat.

actually, i think it has less to do with frollo himself and more the popular mindset in europe at the time. if you look into it, the romani people were persecuted in many european countries and were often forced to either assimilate to whatever country's culture they were living in or leave, since they were seen as criminals, thieves, and liars.

I saw the live action as a kid and loved her, maybe it was Glenn Close being so talented but he way Cruella made her presence known. What I think is so special about her is that she does not have any special abilities nor does she come from a magical world, she's sort of like the Batman of Disney Villains in that she really just has a lot of wealth and smarts to achieve her goals.

I wish you would have done a deep dive into her past like you have with other character studies. I'd love for a full video on such a thing. I used to have this book which told the untold childhoods of disney villains and gave the reader free little gifts and pull tabs exposing fun things for the reader. I recall vividly Cruellas section stating that one parent had black hair and one had white hair and that she wore her hair in plaits as a young girl. Her father was a hunter and her mother was a fashion designer. This would explain her careless cruelty toward animals, love of furs, and love for fashion. In the book it also talked about her hair being in pplaitsnd having dark skin so perhaps she was intended to be black. Unsure. However if you can imagine she was more devil like in the book. She adored the heat and put herself by fires even covered in massive firs, only ate spicy pepper foods including pepper flavored ice cream (yuck!) She loved reds and blacks and her place is called Hell Hall her ancestors were even called evil. She was married in the book to a furrer and drowned her cats kittens. Truly she is a wicked woman through and through.

Cruella de Vil absolutely steals the show in 101 Dalmatians. Every scene with her in is dynamite. The way she starts off as simply an unpleasant friend but evolves into a maniacal villain is just brilliant. You didn’t show the scene where she throws Jasper’s (I think) beer bottle into a fireplace, which is my favourite moment of the whole film for craziness!

Disney really puts some good villains on the screen like I didn't rewatch 101 dalmations (also the lion king and Aladdin) until I was 18 or 19 because I just remember being so scared when I first watched them as a kid. Have you not seen the 101 Dalmatians version of the Christmas carol, I was disappointed to see it wasn't included. The short gives a back story to her about her parents and how they never got her the spotted puppy she always wanted and were always away for Christmas. Anyone who hasn't seen it should really give it a watch, I really like it especially as a short to watch at Christmas time :)

what i like most about Cruella is her viscous temper. She could be funny and elegant and then in one instance she could snap into a ferocious rage-fit. Her personality and the way she carries herself makes her very intimidating. A decadent woman, she gives off the impression that she's well educated and even though people aren't into fur-fashion any more, she does have an impeccable sense of style (especially in the live-action films) as evident by her fur-obsession and her fancy Rolls-Royce (Panther Deville in the live-action remakes).

Cruella has what is called Doramania: a mania for furs. I did a math project once of Cruella De Vil, calculating how many puppies she would actually need to make a coat based on the skin area of a puppy. And how much it would cost based on the price of a dalmatian puppy. She actually only needs 34 puppies.. and it would cost about 23.800£

it's a decent remake. Roger's a computer graphics designer (as presumably an expat, as Jeff Daniels doesn't even attempt an accent) and the animals don't speak, but for the most part, it's pretty close to the original film.

I love this! Cruella is my favorite villain! Unfortunately, she's one of the few Disney villains that actually are evil. Maleficent wasn't invited to a party, so she throws a fit. Garson just doesn't get the girl and cries about it. Captain Hook doesn't want anymore kids to go to Neverland (maybe because Pan kills them, but that's a separate theory), Jafar just wants to rule Agrabah because the current sultan is very eccentric and doesn't do his job right, the queen of hearts was just controlling and threatening, Scar just wanted to be loved and respected like his brother was, mother gothel wanted youth, Hans just wanted to rule a kingdom since he'd be what 13th in line for the throne?, and I could go on, but basically none of these villains mean ACTUAL PHYSICAL harm (besides a prick on the finger or a sour apple) and Cruella wants to KILL INNOCENT BABY PUPPERS FOR THE SAKE OF FASHION FOR HERSELF. Like that was her intent for the entirety of the film and I think that's what sets her apart from other villains. She's my favorite because she's so fancy and my driving closely resembles hers lol.

If you want to know where she came from, and what drives her, read the original novel by Dodie Smith. It also explains “her” fortune (actually her husband’s, a successful furrier) and where Perdita came from. Surprise! Perdita isn’t actually Pongo’s mate at all. She was a stray who helped care for 15 puppies, and her own lost puppies were part of the 83 stolen by Cruella. Her mate ended up being the 101th Dalmatian of the title. And the “old De Vil place” was actually formally named Hell Hall. Disney cut a lot out of the story and changed a lot, too. No wonder Dodie Smith didn’t like the movie very much.

One thing I’ll never understand is why Anita was even friends with Cruella. She mocked her home and her husband during her visit. Makes me think one felt sorry for the other in school. Cruella was a rich popular girl while Anita was the shy bookworm. In the live action version, Cruella admired Anita’s talent. That I can understand.
