Welcome to Day 26 of 30 Days of TWIR. Until tomorrow morning, you can use this comments section to decide what I will review on Day 29 (second-to-last!). The most-liked suggestion when I wake up tomorrow will be locked in for Saturday. I’ll recap the rules here, but for a deeper explanation, check out the Announcement video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooKrpJysZ895l80 Suggestions that do not follow the rules will be ignored or even deleted: 1) One suggestion per person per video. 2) No more than three of any given type (movies, games, etc.) in a row. 3) Should be experience-able in under 3 hours and cost less than $15 (possibly flexible). 4) No works by credibly accused predators. The next two reviews are the game are season 1 of Inside No. 9 and the film The Plague Dogs. The full schedule is available here: theweekireview.com/events/month/2022-01/ Have at it!

Re-trying for Asterios Polyp. Mazzuchelli's art is outstanding at every part of the book with it's art deco design and form over function theme on the narrative. Already hard to get people to read good comics outside Dc/Marvel, harder to get the winning likes to hear your reviewing style talk about it.

You were so close! Tbh I'm mad you lost because I immediately ordered a copy (it's being delivered today).

Before this 30 days of TWIR ends, and since I notice there are almost no reviews of it, my very last very last request would be "The 3 deaths of Marisela Escobedo". It is hard to watch but at the same time as it is said on it is a love story about a mom that love her daughter to the point she wouldn't allow her daughter's murder become another statistic on the list of femicides in México, like 97% of the cases do even if that meant facing a corrupt government and cartels. After it came out a bit more than a year ago, it became an eye opener for women and for men.

I think the Hotline Miami is the only video game series of that sort of genre that I will play, I don't know why I enjoyed those but pretty much hate most others like it and won't really attempt them, I think maybe because the level designs are so compact.

OK - so trying once again for a review of a novel, “The White Hotel” written by D.M.Thomas, circa 1981. It’s a book I’ve wrestled with for years, reading and rereading, never feeling like I’ve ever read it at all, unable to connect the dots. This novel is unlike anything I’ve ever read (except “Ulysses”, which comes to mind for some random reason). It would be a sublime challenge for Alec to explore and critique this provocation of sex and death. I don’t think we’ll be disappointed. PLEASE JOIN ME IN MY REQUEST. Thank you

Really?? Now THIS is a super pleasant surprise! Very happy to see you posting content like this :D! Say... Have you played Disco Elysium?
@TheWeekIReview2 жыл бұрын
Why a surprise? I have played 3 minutes of Disco Elysium. I downloaded it like mid-December, did the character stuff, and realized I should wait until after January because I wanted to give it more attention than I could during this whole thing.

@@TheWeekIReview KZbin really hasn't been recommending your stuff to me lately so I thought you were a movie only guy. Also I ADORE this game so always love to see it talked about. Btw you HAVE to play Disco Elysium, please try to go into it as blind as you can. Has to be my game of the decade!

Huh, well, movies have only made up like 1/3 of the 26 reviews I've done this month, so I hope that feeling doesn't stick. I know things about it but I've largely avoided any real detailed discussions because I figured I'd get there eventually.

Let's end the month with something fun: Black Dynamite, a parody of blaxploitation movies that's bad-on-purpose, in the vein of Garth Marenghi.

It would be awesome and make a lot of sense to review season 1 of the Comedy Central show Review as one of the last reviews for the month. It’s basically a tv show about, well, this. It would be great because it would almost also have to serve as a reflection on this 30 days of reviewing thing
