@@blissfuljoy6049 in this particular case, the luggage was actually recovered. The photos that Tony showed were of the actual partial contents of the luggage that were destroyed. The customer was NOT requesting replacement of things that could be washed, such as their clothes. It also sounded like the customer was making a very reasonable effort to find the lowest replacement cost for the destroyed items. So at least in this case I really think the cruise line should step up and give the customer the requested amount.

@GeoffsYouTube18 күн бұрын
@@blissfuljoy6049 $323 (or whatever the total was) is NOT a lot of stuff these days. The luggage itself most likely needed to be replaced as I don't see how that could possibly be cleaned up to be used again and that could easily be $150-200 of the total without being even remotely high end stuff. Look at luggage prices for popular brands like Eagle Creek, Patagonia, The North Face, etc. If the customer had something like a Briggs & Riley suitcase, replacement cost for just that would be over $500 and there's much higher end stuff than that. IMHO, the customer clearly isn't requesting replacement money for anything ridiculous here and RC is making a rather boneheaded PR move by not just fixing their mistake to the customer's satisfaction.

An important variable in determining coming into or out of a show is how far into a row you need to go--ie how many people are disrupted when you try to slide past them to get to your middle seat during a performance.
@Shan_Dalamani19 күн бұрын
I spent many years working on various backstage crews in musical theatre, and also did some front of house that includes coat check, tickets, programs, and ushering. The rules our theatre company had were these: 1. No food or beverages allowed in the auditorium (beverages would be available during intermission). 2. No cameras or other recording equipment (legal reasons, plus they would be a distraction for the performers, and inconsiderate to other audience members). 3. If you're late, you'll be seated at the next quiet part of the show, like a scene change when the stage crew is changing the set. Until then, wait where the ushers tell you to wait, and keep your mouth shut. When the usher tells you they can seat you, go where they tell you to go (the seat specified on your ticket), walk calmly, don't dawdle, and don't be noisy (a whispered "excuse me, please, sorry" to other people you're trying to get past is considered normal). Sit down and wait quietly for the show to continue. 4. If you need to go to the bathroom in a hurry, try to wait until the end of the scene. Leave quickly but calmly, tell the ushers you need the bathroom, and when you're done, the same procedure applies as before - you'll have to wait until a scene change when nothing is happening on the stage other than what the stage crew is doing. During my times as an usher, I don't recall anyone having to run out for the bathroom. I did have to remind a few people of the "no food or beverages" rule. I do remember people arriving late, sometimes. The thing is, the performance dates were also at the time of year when the Stanley Cup playoffs (NHL hockey) were going on. Most people in the audience were couples, and there was one night I could assume the game was a bit of a nail-biter, as a whole flood of people came in at 5 minutes to curtain. As I was seating them, I heard whispers all around me: "What was the score when you left home?" As far as situations on cruise ships go, it's flabbergasting why they don't just have ushers to regulate these latecomers. It sounds like a massively disorganized free-for-all, and so very unprofessionally run.

Saw a comedian call out someone for a bathroom break once. He asked her "could you hear us in the bathroom? We could hear you!" Your theatre etiquette is on point Tony.
@mariebrooks734116 күн бұрын
My personal etiquette is to sit towards the back on the left of right side not in the middle of the theater, arrive while the lights are up and the show has not started, I leave when the lights come up and patiently wait as we leave the theater. I volunteer at arts theaters in my city and most patrons arrive before the show starts, go to the bathroom during intermission or they leave quietly and return quietly. The doors do not open for leaving until after the lights come up, patrons can leave at any time before the lights come up but most do not, they wait until the performance stop and the performers take their bow. If if disrespectful to arrive late and stroll down front during a performance, sit in the back. Unless it is sold out performance, we sit people in the balcony or in the back if they arrive late and they can go to their front seats during intermission. If it's a sold out show and they have front row seats, they are seated based on the stage managers instructions to the house manager. Ushers escort them to their seat, they cannot just stroll down front.

If the cruise line drops my bag in the ocean, it's gross negligence. A 300 dollar max refund is unacceptable. I've heard of the suitcase in the water at Brisbane port a year or two ago so it's not the first time this happened to someone's bag. Not to mention the bag should be discarded after being in the dirty water. Very shoddy!

I saw a piece of luggage fall off on the pier. They eventually stopped and grabbed it.
