@@blissfuljoy6049 in this particular case, the luggage was actually recovered. The photos that Tony showed were of the actual partial contents of the luggage that were destroyed. The customer was NOT requesting replacement of things that could be washed, such as their clothes. It also sounded like the customer was making a very reasonable effort to find the lowest replacement cost for the destroyed items. So at least in this case I really think the cruise line should step up and give the customer the requested amount.

@GeoffsYouTube
@GeoffsYouTube 18 күн бұрын
@@blissfuljoy6049 $323 (or whatever the total was) is NOT a lot of stuff these days. The luggage itself most likely needed to be replaced as I don't see how that could possibly be cleaned up to be used again and that could easily be $150-200 of the total without being even remotely high end stuff. Look at luggage prices for popular brands like Eagle Creek, Patagonia, The North Face, etc. If the customer had something like a Briggs & Riley suitcase, replacement cost for just that would be over $500 and there's much higher end stuff than that. IMHO, the customer clearly isn't requesting replacement money for anything ridiculous here and RC is making a rather boneheaded PR move by not just fixing their mistake to the customer's satisfaction.

Some years ago my wife and I were attending a Broadway show. Somehow, just after it started a couple came in late to be seated in the middle are of the audience. The performers saw this (even with the lights in their eyes) completely stopped the show, brought the house lights up and we all waited for this couple to take their seat. The performer on stage asked if they were comfortable and could he resume, then the lights went down and the play continued. Had to be a hugh humilation to these people, which served them right. An important variable in determining coming into or out of a show is how far into a row you need to go--ie how many people are disrupted when you try to slide past them to get to your middle seat during a performance.
@Shan_Dalamani
@Shan_Dalamani 19 күн бұрын
I spent many years working on various backstage crews in musical theatre, and also did some front of house that includes coat check, tickets, programs, and ushering. The rules our theatre company had were these: 1. No food or beverages allowed in the auditorium (beverages would be available during intermission). 2. No cameras or other recording equipment (legal reasons, plus they would be a distraction for the performers, and inconsiderate to other audience members). 3. If you're late, you'll be seated at the next quiet part of the show, like a scene change when the stage crew is changing the set. Until then, wait where the ushers tell you to wait, and keep your mouth shut. When the usher tells you they can seat you, go where they tell you to go (the seat specified on your ticket), walk calmly, don't dawdle, and don't be noisy (a whispered "excuse me, please, sorry" to other people you're trying to get past is considered normal). Sit down and wait quietly for the show to continue. 4. If you need to go to the bathroom in a hurry, try to wait until the end of the scene. Leave quickly but calmly, tell the ushers you need the bathroom, and when you're done, the same procedure applies as before - you'll have to wait until a scene change when nothing is happening on the stage other than what the stage crew is doing. During my times as an usher, I don't recall anyone having to run out for the bathroom. I did have to remind a few people of the "no food or beverages" rule. I do remember people arriving late, sometimes. The thing is, the performance dates were also at the time of year when the Stanley Cup playoffs (NHL hockey) were going on. Most people in the audience were couples, and there was one night I could assume the game was a bit of a nail-biter, as a whole flood of people came in at 5 minutes to curtain. As I was seating them, I heard whispers all around me: "What was the score when you left home?" As far as situations on cruise ships go, it's flabbergasting why they don't just have ushers to regulate these latecomers. It sounds like a massively disorganized free-for-all, and so very unprofessionally run.

My personal etiquette is to sit towards the back on the left of right side not in the middle of the theater, arrive while the lights are up and the show has not started, I leave when the lights come up and patiently wait as we leave the theater. I volunteer at arts theaters in my city and most patrons arrive before the show starts, go to the bathroom during intermission or they leave quietly and return quietly. The doors do not open for leaving until after the lights come up, patrons can leave at any time before the lights come up but most do not, they wait until the performance stop and the performers take their bow. If if disrespectful to arrive late and stroll down front during a performance, sit in the back. Unless it is sold out performance, we sit people in the balcony or in the back if they arrive late and they can go to their front seats during intermission. If it's a sold out show and they have front row seats, they are seated based on the stage managers instructions to the house manager. Ushers escort them to their seat, they cannot just stroll down front.

If the cruise line drops my bag in the ocean, it's gross negligence. A 300 dollar max refund is unacceptable. If items are destroyed, they need to pay much closer to the airline numbers

You must fly some great airlines - those are high limits, especially domestically - Ours are a maximum of $1700, and if you have high-cost items, you have to declare them ahead of time, and purchase extra insurance, Just like at home, if you have an expensive machine of some sort, artwork, or jewelry, you have to have a special rider to cover that, or you get basic coverage.

If the cruise lines drops your luggage in the ocean, they should compensate for all of it. Replace the contents plus the luggage. After all, it's their fault, and no fault of the passenger.

I agree with you completely about if you sit close you gotta just sit through the show unless it’s an emergency. For me personally I always sit in the back because I never know how long I wanna be there. But also if nature calls and you get up and you’re in the front row you just gotta wait till it’s a good break to Get back to your seat just hang out in the back till then.

I am not a prisoner in the theater...I can leave any time I want and if I am not enjoying the show, I am not wasting my time for something I dont like

Yes, for every piece of luggage the cruise line drops in the ocean, they should give the passenger the extra $23. If that's going to be a problem, stop dropping luggage into the ocean!

Hey Tony I was recently on the Jubilee. During a comics joke, a guy jumped up and ran out of the theater holding his bottom. The comic joked on him the rest of the show. Lol his friends remained but he didn’t return.

I might have to sample more than one item on the entree menu. After the show, I either leave as early as possible or stay late to avoid elevator/restroom congestion.

I don’t mind if someone leaves the theater during a show if they leave quickly. What bothers me is when someone comes late. Theater is often full and the late comers stand in the way of others trying to see the show.

Royal is not compensating the customer. Their insurance is settling the claim & Royal only receives a report quarterly of annually on claims settled.

My husband and I were on a carnival cruise back in the day and was watching the dock workers putting the luggage carts on the ship and backing up with the forklift back into another cart and knocked it into the water.

If I had a restroom emergency (and I have), I have left in between songs and during applause, and I haven't come back for the rest of the show. I would rather stay in the restroom and be 'safe and sure' than come back to my seat only to have to leave again.

I was once so bursting to pee that I absolutely HAD to leave before the end of the show. I really didn’t want to because the show was so fantastic, but I knew if I didn’t it would not be good! 😳 So I slipped out as quietly as I could (was not in front rows). The show was almost over (I thought) so I had whispered to hubby I would wait outside but I heard it was still going. So I slipped back inside and stood inside the doors. Turned out they ended up doing massive encore performances that went on for about fifteen minutes so glad I went back in. I ended up dancing in the space near the door and enjoyed the end of the show so much. No way could I have lasted had u not run off to the loo! 😂

I've heard of the suitcase in the water at Brisbane port a year or two ago so it's not the first time this happened to someone's bag. Not to mention the bag should be discarded after being in the dirty water. Very shoddy!

I saw a piece of luggage fall off on the pier. They eventually stopped and grabbed it.
