The salt dispenser is a relic from over 100 years ago..they were called salt cellars or open salts. They were common before salt shakers for use with authentic salt prior to the addition of anticaking agents. They were made of crystal, cut glass or sterling silver. Over 5000 different ones were produced. I have over 300 of them. What a blast from the past!!!

This video brought back SO many wonderful memories from my visit to Bruges in 2012. I remember climbing that clock tower, walking those streets and taking one of the boat tours. (I made a poster of a photo from the canal that was the centerpiece of my front room for several years). And the chocolate! There are NO words! Thank you for bringing back such beautiful memories!

I think this cruise line suits my personality the most. I think it's probably good to remember that a lot of things are included because it can feel more expensive, but with other cruise lines, you might end up spending more in the long run with various charges.

The salt dispenser is actually called a salt cellar and England is full of them. They are from way back in time. You can probably find one but they tend to be pricey sometimes if they're old

You can get them for sugar too. Can't remember the correct name. Salt cellars are also used in Wales and Scotland.

Ours here in the US are typically sterling silver, and each place setting gets its own, with a demi tasse spoon. Some are tiny cut glass, with sterling silver rims.

Individual sterling silver salt “cellars” with the spoons, and mini pepper shakers were the best part of eating dinners at my grandparents’ home in Pennsylvania. I think they originally came from my great-grandparents, so probably made in the late 1800’s. Wish I had inherited them!

Really enjoyed and appreciated this travel segment. After the initial excitement of discovering what the ship has to offer, it looks like you can really relax during the trip. The ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge, is what really made me decide to go cruising, very sadly that route is scrapped now. Absolutely adore Bruges and Belgium in General been around 10 times now, love Raymond Dumas and The Chocolate Line. Glad you enjoyed your Brugse Zot Bier David. I will have to agree the cabins ARE indeed roomier then they appear..Although, on Scarlet it was a bit tight between the foot of the bed and the TV, but doable..Would be real tight for 'fluffier' cruisers tho..LOVE the wood accents on Valiant, and you say they are putting that on Scarlet as well? Nice!! I was completely blown away by the quality of all the food places when I sailed Scarlet back in February! Looking forward to seeing more shenanigans on Valiant! Happy cruising guys!!
