Sailing Magic Carpet

Sailing Magic Carpet

Күн бұрын

In perhaps the most exciting episode to date we:
• Get woken up by a hot air balloon
• Cruise under a castle
• Cruise through a love tunnel
• Weather a storm
• Avoid a dangerous collision
• Celebrate France's world cup win in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere
• Watch a 6 year old boy breakdance to old French classics and Irish folk music
This is a pretty full episode of Sailing Magic Carpet! We travel from Montbeliard to Macon on our journey through the French Canals to the Mediterranean Sea, finding countless adventures along the way. Enjoy!

I am about 3 years behind on my binge watching, but to see you drifting below the chateau at Besancon made me wake up. I studied at university there in Besancon back in '66 for a semester and never knew the Doub flowed beneath the citadel! I drank many a 'flagon' of wine on its banks, ate more than I should of croissants and fondue, and basked in the brief sunshine before winter set in. Thanks for taking me along on a fine trip down memory lane!

Wow! you are a breath of fresh air. Slow camera movements. Nice music in tune with the moment. To top it all, two nice and resourceful individuals. All of that on a smaller more accessible scale. You both look healthy and happy. Which is a lot to be thankful for in these troubled times. This thing is invisible and sneaky. It's also a two way street. It's sad to say but you will have to be careful with just about everybody that you meet. Otherwise, I predict quality times ahead! 😎

I started watching for the boat repair and the sailing. Now I'm hooked on the music. I am not a very musical person listening mostly to talk radio in my travels but the breadth and styles you play are awesome. I never seem to find these on the radio or I would listen more. But then I saw you play and now I understand where it all comes from. News flash, Le Boat has come to Canada and now playing havoc on the Rideau Canal System based out of Smiths Falls Ontario. I am hooked.

Brian Mason That is SO great to hear that you enjoy the music so much! Choosing the music for these episodes is one of my favourite parts. Many of the artists I choose are not terribly well known (with some obvious exceptions!) so feel free to look them up and maybe buy a song or two of theirs. I am all about supporting small artists! I’m glad you liked my little performance on the bow too. We are very glad to have you along on the journey, you are a valued subscriber! Sincerely Maya (and Aladino)

I love these video. Stunning scenery including the Besacon castle tunnel, Tunnel of Love with lights and waterfall, quaint Dole, serene small canals, a lovely violin player, handsome skipper. Truely magical. The yacht draft of 1.7 metres is sometimes scaping the bottom of the river.. You would not be able to take it on many English and Welsh canals which need flat bottom boats. Hello from Australia. We have almost no scenic canals. Lots of Coastline, beaches, islands, rivers, lakes, estuaries and harbours. Many country rivers like the Darling have all but dried up and the paddle boats of a century ago are long gone. Long rivers like the Murray lack varied scenery with just a few interesting towns. We Aussies love the European waterways, scenery and sense if history. Bon Voyage mes amis.

Typical rental boat action! On the Norfolk Broads in the UK, it’s usually chaotic during the holiday periods. However, there are no locks on the Broads. On the camel network in the UK narrowboats have a central handling line to make lock work easier, particularly for single crewed boats. Boats are also well equipped with plenty of fenders... thanks for making such great videos...
