Guys, I wish you would tell us what date this actually happened. We who don't live in MT need to know if this is this week [10/20-26] so we can decide if we might want to be in MT this late in the season. We were in MT earlier in the year [June/July this year and Sept/Oct of 23 but not this late in October] Thanks.

We did that ride on Oct. 15. Usually by this time of the year it's too cold and windy and sometimes snowy to ride. Montana's weather is quick to change, from day to day.

Excellent early fall trip through God's Country. You are certainly making the most of retirement. I have been riding motorcycles for a long time and some unsolicited advice on your road bike. For reliability, efficiency, and "fixability," don't mod your bike as to the engine and suspension. OK to add surface features, but the underlying engineering, don't change anything. There is a huge online presence for serious bike modification usually promoted by aftermarket sellers. Many, such as engine mods, violate important automotive engineering in the dubious pursuit of "performance." Your bike will last many trouble free years if left stock, and when a problem does appear, troubleshooting a stock bike is usually straightforward. And as long as I am jabbering, I can't recommend enough going ATGATT: all the gear, all the time. Wear protective gear always, best, and especially the helmet, use hi-viz colors. Hi-viz looks nerdly, but it is shown to reduce the chance of accidents by about one third. And strangely enough, Hi-Viz colors can slightly reduce the tendency for animals to cross the road in front of you. Happy trails!
