If you have a "perfect time" you will never remember it down the road, because it's those pesky things that help us remember. Hawaii was always my favorite place to vacation... I went with a small group of ladies, and it was great! however, one moved away and the other passed away... when I went back with other people it was never the same!! so, I guess it's also who we are out there with? Linda is a great travel companion... she cooks and explores with Joy!

Oh dear, I will be praying for the situation that is requiring your presence back home.🙏 That kind of news is always unsettling. And it's true, rates on everything have gone up. I've heard so many folks comment on this issue. But the $6 a night deal sounded great as well as the up to 7 day freebie! And yes going south at this time of year is a bit warmer. We were 22° overnight last night here in the Flathead. Berrr! Will keep you all in my thoughts prayers❤

Lots of nice remote BLM land down there, where I've never run across another person or vehicle after leaving the road mainly used by railroad maintenance folks.

@clarkleakins8792 ай бұрын
Well i am sure you will pick the best truck. Probably an extra cab the minimum. Challenge will be loading/unloading the motorcycle. And you would probably want a shell high enough to cover the motorcycle? Or the sliding canvass cover. No way to reconfigure the trailer inside? If i recall your bunks are east west. Maybe cut bunk half, swing up against the walls? Seems you often stay put a few days. Roll out the motorcycle soon as you arrive. Carry in center of trailer, front wheel towards the rear ramp to keep the handlebars from interfere with inside walls. Maybe look for a small "toy hauler"? Do you anticipate one day bringing the goldwing? With the TW? The pickup truck will probably be longer, and/or wheelbase longer, than your current vehicle. Think about that relationship to getting into some off road places. No way to strengthen the existing trailer frame? That night be challenging but I think worthwhile. Of course, perhaps your current vehicle is getting tired and you have been thinking about replacement.

It's Friday, time for a Gonagain video. I thought it was Thursday. I'm not a trailer expert, but isn't it bad for swing to put all the weight at each end of the trailer and nothing in the center? I'm for a f350 long bed 4x4 super cab or crew cab with a 6.2 engine. I find my 5.4 liter lacking in power. I did just do a bunch of work to it though designed to improve performance as you know. Heading out for a test drive now, your video delaying me. Had to get my Rick and Linda fix first you know. Take care kids.

Heard you say Pickup. Be easier to buy trailer 2 foot longer. I'd get wider also. But you like your trailer. Your really rough on trailer! Add some shocks and fix it up. What, Pickup any good will cost $20 and still have to many miles on it. Everything is out in open for all to decide what they need. I keep cover on my Pickup. I spent $4500 because of a stupid problem. Not even 25,000 miles and of course to many years for a warranty.

When I was young, loading dirt bikes into the back of trucks was no big deal. Now that I am sixty, loading my dirt bike into the back of a pickup seems precarious, at best. One slip, and you are going to fall and the bike will probabably land on top of you. My bike probably weighs fifty pounds less than that Yamaha. My suggestion is to try loading it into a couple of different trucks before you run out and buy a truck. I have a stock F150 4x4 that I pull my cargo trailer with. The dirt bike resides in the cargo trailer, which also doubles as my camper. Not ideal, but it beats falling off the tailgate out in the middle of nowhere...

They may want to charge a fee for free BLM land one of these days. Sorry to hear that you need to cut the trip short hope all goes well. Loading a motorcycle into and out of a pickup could be hard on the back and more hooking and unhooking of the trailer. I love my van but it's only me living in it. If my wife was still with me I would go for a small motorhome and keep the bike on the back so I could sell the trailer. I leave for AZ in about 3 weeks. Good luck and hope all goes well.
@gonagain2 ай бұрын
I'm afraid that you may be right about the BLM land and fees. With the roads we go down, there's no easy solution for the bike. Someone mentioned putting it on the front of the Yukon, but that blots out the headlights!

States gouging campers now....Trying to squeeze a buck out of people at every angle....How long till there is a surcharge for clean air ???? ....The more i see the more im convinced for us anyway, Corp of Engineer campgrounds are where its at for sure...They always by a nice lake or river area, have all the amenities ya need and for cheap...Avg price $18-$40 a nite...BUT !!!!! If you have the Geezer Pass (American the Beautiful National Park Pass) those cheap prices at COE campgrounds are half off...So your avg. stay a nite is between $9-$20 a nite for all amenities ....Between COE campgrounds, Casinos, Cracker barrel, Rest Areas, and Walmarts in a pinch we travel fairly cheaply when on the road...Our biggest expense ??? The issue of drastically raised camping fees across the whole country, is not by mistake. Because of the world we live in, the operational costs of these camping areas have increased drastically. More importantly, a huge number of people, have decided they would rather drop out of the system, and minimize their expenses. KZbin is absolutely besieged with such people. The point is, the public camping structure was not designed to carry this many users, which provides a significantly lower tax revenue. Don't have to be a genius to figure out campgrounds and public lands, cannot present themselves as easy targets for the destitute and financial failures. I get by on nothing but Social Security... and I live like a king. Because I'm okay with being in the middle of nowhere by myself and keeping my own counsel. The more popularized the low-income existence, the more notable this problem will become.
@gonagain2 ай бұрын
I agree. We started out this channel years ago trying to be of some service to the folks that were living in their vans down in Arizona that had no other choice but to get along that way. We loved meeting them and talking to them. These days with the cost of living through the roof and astronomical rents, a lot more folks are forced into living this life and the available campgrounds are overcrowded. It seems that more and more city dwellers are also resorting to living in their vehicles.
